I feel as if the person who watched that anime and the person I am are two entirely different beings. Half the novels after the TSR ends or just half the novels? For anyone in highschool following anything anime when FMP aired or even a few years after, it was something you just had to have watched, even if you didnt necessarily like it. The fact that people may have followed anywhere near a decade or maybe more seasons worth of shows and never seen FMP is one of those clobbering reminders of how old I am now.

That and the snuggle snuggle snuggle scene in the last episode. MCs aunt is awesome and doesn't get enough screen time which sorta sucks. It has some really good moments but a lot of "downtime" it's not particular good nor bad in my opinion a slightly above average romcom.

I am happy to see that my worries about the new director were unjustified so far. + Show Spoiler [Steins Gate 0] + Also looking at the OP and the ED, I really really hope we will at least do Promised Rinascimento -> Vega & Altair -> Milky Way Crossing

Megalobox 8.10 has a good potential, as long as the story picks up the pace. Hardware assisted boxing with a protagonist in the slums trying to get to the big league. Very nice illustration. It kinda looks a bit retro. Atmosphere, animations and main character hair give me an Afro-samurai vibe. GunGaleOnline 7/10 has kinda of a slow start. Long story short SwordArtOnline - The Division. Did not liked that the show goes into character motivations so fast, feels like they started a filler arc in episode 2. Also who in the bloody world is complexed about their high height? FoodWars 9/10 packs and sends me to the kitchen cooking mid episode every freaking time. If I keep watching this either I'm going to be good enough for Master Chef or I'll end up straight up obese. Edit added some ratings, personal opinion.

I can't remember a season that stacked with good shows in recent years. Can you guys? Usually I watch 2-3 shows but I will probably follow like 7. Edit: https://myanimelist.net/anime/season. 6 shows that can crack 8.0+, including 4 that can aim for 8.5+, and even one that is so far at 9.0+ (those generally come down and don't remain in the top 10, but the first Steins Gate is well rated).

It might just be that this season fits my tastes more than others usually do. I've watched like 2 episodes of 3-gatsu, and I liked it well enough, but I generally don't stick for "slice-of-life-ish anime about teenagers" anymore. Is this way too reductive of a view of 3-gatsu and should I watch more? Or do you think I wouldn't enjoy anyway? To be blunt, I like when my anime are eventful and shit happens. Does shit happen in 3-gatsu? (is there some well-paced development of plot/characters toward something interesting? It's the "slice-of-life" tag in particular that has me a bit reluctant to continue (but I see the target demographics is seinen which is almost always a plus for me).

It might just be that this season fits my tastes more than others usually do. I think that's pretty much it. For example, like numy said, for him the "standout player" is missing that was 3gatsu for the last couple seasons and I am totally with him on that. For others, 3gatsu might be amazing but just not something they personally enjoy in anime while something else like Steins;Gate fits that description much better for them. While I personally couldn't care less about Steins;Gate myself. I wouldn't describe it as a slice of life. It is but to me that's not the defining feature of it at all. The first word or genre that comes to my mind when I think 3gatsu is probably drama. But in a down-to-earth kind of way. So no romance-drama, or fantasy-drama. Which probably results in it being slice of life because what's left I would say stuff happens, like the tournaments, the bully arc, all kinds of struggles here and there but it's not like those things are ever the focal point of the story. They're a background that gives us the setting while we get to see the characters grow while going through whatever the setting currently is. So yeah, there's character development but not specifically towards something specific imo.

Maybe Kuro no Galatic Heroes can manage it Nu-LoGH isn't a bad adaption per se. Outside of the poor character designs and having a weaker start (since old LoGH had 2 movies for the start, so it had like 6-8 times more screen-time for the same content+ some prequel stuff) i really can't say that it's a bad adaption beyond that though. If the character designs had been good and if they had actually had enough episodes for a full adaption instead of only adapting a single book over 12 episodes, this could've been a pretty good modern version. Except for changing the order of when some things happen (because they're doing 1 episode focusing on the empire and then 1 episode on the FPA and then an empire episode and then a FPA episode etc) the pacing is almost the same as old LoGH. Then again they haven't reached any of the series defining moments so who knows if they'll do those justice. But to me there's so many things that i'm excited to watch this season, it's the best season in many many years for me.

The only things I'm watching this season are seven deadly sins and Hero Academia. So mostly guilty pleasure stuff but it has been months since I last got anything airing. Think shokugeki was the last one but I stopped bothering towards the end of the season since the show turned to shit. Maybe that implies this season is amazing? haha don't know if that's good enough justification. Is a seasons worth the outliers or the average?

If i had 5 amazing shows one season but 20 god-awful straight up 1/10s one season and 1 good show and 20 mediocre shows another season i'd still call the season with 5 amazing shows the better season even if on "average" it was worse Because i just drop shitty shows so they don't really factor into my enjoyment
