+ Show Spoiler [LoGH 25+26] +Holy shit. I was caught completely off guard by that. And what terrible timing - it's like right after his horrible split with Reinhard. He was one of my favorite characters too. Who ordered the assassination though? I seriously doubt it was the Lichtenlade - he's a pretty shrewd guy, but I can't see him doing something like that. It was probably just a clever excuse on Oberstein's part to secure power. I briefly considered Oberstein since it was a good way to remove Kircheis from the picture, but the risk to Reinhard was too great for that to be a viable plan. Who else would gain from Reinhard's death? Phezzan? Unlikely since they're sending a spy. The alliance? They're probably too far away and busy dealing with the end of their own civil war. Another one of the admirals? Mittenmeyer doesn't seem like the assassination type, but Reuental might do it. They had the most to gain since they're the highest ranking admirals. So yeah, nobody's left to hold Reinhard in check anymore. I expect Oberstein to gain a lot more influence in future episodes. It's not explicitly stated that Annerose was in love with Kircheis, but I'd like to think that she was. I liked their conversations. D: The end of ep 26 showed a loooot of dead characters. I didn't even realize that so many had died. Gonna go cry in a corner now.
I watched that siscon show with the impossibly long name. It was better than I expected, but god the art's horrible. Maybe I'll give it another episode or two.
Edit: IMO, the best thing about Al is that he holds grudges. That was hilarious.

am I the only one here who thinks that Freezing looks liek a stupid mixture of Evangelion, Strike Witches and Ikkitousen?

Hard for me to say since I didn't watch any of those. The 1st episode was essentially panty+cleavage shots with girls slashing at each other with melee weapons.+ Show Spoiler [more info] + They can recover missing limbs or damaged organs, call upon weapons and have superhuman strength and speed. Apparently the girls are called Pandoras and fight aliens invading Earth. These aliens have some kind of a passive Freezing field around them, slowing down and damaging the pandoras. That's where the men come in. A pandora has a male partner that can disspell the freezing field tilting the advantage back to the pandoras' side, in theory.
The main heroine is a typical cold-hearted princess, and the male is tormented by the death of his nee-san. He sees the image of his nee-san in the cold-hearted princess and shit kicks off.
Can't make heads or tails out of it yet, personally, since half the episode was mindless slaughter.

Katanagatari. It's less action, but it's adventure...though if you're not the biggest fan of drawn out dialogues, then maybe you might want to reconsider.
But yeeeeaaaahhhh. I loved it.

Hmm.....it does have a "weird" art style....but in all honesty, I ended up forgiving the Anime for that. I actually thought the art was creative and quite beautiful at the end. In a way, it defies the usual moe art that I watched.....
But....yeah.

Actually, I think I'm going to watch Kimi Ni Todoke first because my GF said she wanted to watch it and that's reason enough

Well, I've been getting her into anime the last year or so. So, when she says she wants to watch something I'm not going to argue it. She is just about to finish Clannad: After Story. I told I thought she'd really like it when I was watching it.

I can see some Ikkitousen-fanservice in this show, but so far it looks alot better than Ikkitousen. And other than "mysterious alien monster invasion" (which IMO is more of a generic setting than something tied to either of those shows), I don't see much similarity to Evangelion, much less Strike Witches. Plus Strike Witches was pretty terrible too, so its not really possible to do a "shitty" Ikkitousen/Strike Witches mix anyway.

I remember when I first saw that, and many manly tears were shed. The guy was just so nice, so likable, so talented, and was the only one that Reinhard would really listen to. Then they get into their first fight because of Oberstein, and Kircheis dies. And now Reinhard essentially blames himself. This will have major impact on the show. As for those responsible, I doubt that any of Reinhard's subordinates would have tried that, since like you said, the risk to Reinhard was just too great. Besides, everyone other than Oberstein liked Kircheis. And thus ends Season 1, with Season 2 about to start up. With both Civil Wars over now, only decent Admirals are left alive on both sides now.

cant really word why but Freezing just makes me cringe

LoGH 25-26 + Show Spoiler +NOOOOO!!!! KIRCHEIS!!!!
Damn I loved Kircheis so much. Such a great character. Reinhard is all alone now... Can he really take the universe? Can he really fullfill this promise? He's surrounded by many talented people, but without Kircheis, this just seems impossible...
About who's responsible, I'm pretty sure it was just this guy all alone, since he promised the prince he would take revenge. It couldn't be Oberstein, since he threw himself in front of Reinhard. This proves his loyalty for now...
Damn, LoGH is so good!

LOGH Talk: + Show Spoiler +Since Season 1 is now over, what are your thoughts so far on the season overall? Also, thoughts on characters/favorites so far?
I've wondered how things would have turned out differently later on in this show, if Kircheis would have lived. In battle, hes the only person who Yang wasn't able to find an opening against. He is really the only person who can make Reinhard listen to reason.

Damn, LoGH is so good! + Show Spoiler +Reinhard can now fulfill his promise because Kircheis is dead. You can think of Oberstein and Kircheis as the two conflicting sides of Reinhard - one represents his compassion, while the other is coldly logical. However, a ruler has no need for compassion - it will only distract him from making the (arguably) correct, logical decisions that will keep him in power. I'm not convinced that this guy was working alone. He said he promised the prince that he'd take revenge, but this could just be the reasoning some other party used to motivate him to do the assassination. All in all, the season was amazing. It wasn't continuous action, but overall, the pacing was excellent. Yang and Reinhard are obvious favorites (as is Kircheis ). Julian's kinda annoying. Bagdashu is interesting. Cazellnu hasn't had an awful lot of screentime, but I like what I've seen so far. Fahrenheit is cool. Mittenmeyer seems like an okay guy. Edit: Oh yeah, Mariendorf seems pretty awesome too.

+ Show Spoiler +I hated the civil wars. I felt like there was no surprise there. But the first part was definitely interesting.
Favourite characters (in order of preference) : basically the most important one. Reinhard, Yang, Kircheis, Oberstein. Reinhard is just completely awesome. Yang is so funny saying stuff like "I guess we are really in trouble" and then winning. Oberstein is a strategical/political genius, but we don't know much about his tactical skills. After that, I would say Mittermeyer. Then I don't know enough about the others to judge, but I'm looking forward more of Bugdashu, Fahrenheit, Merkatz and Julian. I want to note that all those characters wouldn't be as good without all the retards beside them. Hence, I thank Fork, the prince, most of the Alliance's generals and the nobles for playing the bad role.
And Spazer, I guess you're right. However, I feel like Reinhard is just completely destroyed and won't have the mental strength and will to do that. He made it sounds at the end like he wants to be defeated by someone better than him. I guess we'll see! He definitely has the skill to take over the universe though.
And I don't think we'll ever come back to this assassination attempt, so I guess there's really nothing to discover there. I'm pretty convinced that prince something was not involved though.

Just watched the first ep of Freezing. It's decent, I guess, but it'd be better if they didn't throw fanservice into the strangest places. It kinda reminds me of Gunbuster in that way - they're in the middle of a serious dramatic moment THEN SUDDENLY, NUDITY.
There's a time and place for everything. Oh well.
