Saw Final Fantasy: Kingsglaive yesterday... Overall fairly meh. The plot was not very well fleshed out and I didn't really care about any of the characters. In terms of quality it was all over the place. Some characters and animations looked really great to the point where it was hard to distinguish it from live action. Others looked and moved like some intern tried their hands on it. Same with the shots and screen transitions. Some really good ones and some that felt utterly disjointed. I had the impression that a lot of the fade-to-black transitions were half a second or a second too early. Same with the action. A few awesome long shots of fighting and stuff, as well as sections of rapid cuts that took me out of the action entirely, since I had no idea what the fuck was going on. Aside from that it was your run-of-the-mill action movie. A shit ton of silly one-liners, no meaningful dialogue, action that defied the laws of physics, indestructible main characters, etc... Oh, and the conclusion of the movie was not really satisfying. It just ends with a lot of things completely open. It's as if they ran out of time "Oh shit, it's almost 2h long already, time to end it... right here!" Having Sean Bean voice one of the characters is a major spoiler by now.
It was, in essence, what I had expected. I gave it a weak 6/10 because they didn't really utilize the fact that it was an animated movie.

apparently they animated it for english release (english dubbing) so that could possibly explain these sort of issue (transition animator works with japanese voices, voice animator works with english voices, consequently fades come too early or late for the english voice)
another glaring audio issue was sounds of crowds cheering when there were no people/crowds
some janky animations but on the whole absolutely incredible, next-level stuff, completely mindblowing detail ! you watch Advent Children and there are like X number of incredible detailed graphics scenes in there, by comparison every single scene in this movie is at that level or beyond. i didnt think it was possible, it would cost too much to make something so detailed!!!
the movie was supposed to be a spoiler-free prequel to the game so i think they done an ok job with accomplishing that
as for the quality of the story etc , it speaks for itself
i did think blondie was pretty sexy in the end, some celes vibes there i think
mc had charles vane vibes which i liked
its a must-watch just for the graphics/art they have been capable of , apart from that it was interesting enough
Lots happened these last few episodes. I didn't like that they had to recall Elk from the battle field for "some stupid reason" just safe the Yamato. I mean, the random assassination of the Gamillas' lord is a good reason to recall him but they could have let him finish his job and then recall him. It was a matter of minutes until the Yamato would have fallen anyways which wouldn't have made a difference in the long run for Elk to come back. Well, they had to keep the story alive I guess. The Witch episode was pretty cool for an episode full of flashbacks. Reminded me of Satoshi Kon as the technique that was mentioned in the video, which was recently posted here, was used a lot. Then, finally, the security officer showed his real face. I loved everything about ep16. The drama was well done, the exploration was great and the solution and how they stopped the attempted coup was well done as well. Only thing that bothers me is that the white haired girl is losing the romantic triangle to that alien girl (Mori). Meh.
Finally finished The World God Only Knows (first 2 seasons + manga) after starting it last week. I definitely enjoyed it for the most part since haven't binged a series like this in a long while but I did get bored with it for most of the final arc.
The whole time-travel thing gave me an headache trying to figure out how everything wasn't just one big paradox but what annoyed me the most was that all the characters I grew to enjoy reading about were gone and I wasn't given any reason to care about all the new characters (Especially Kaori, she almost made me drop the manga). Elsie's true nature was also a poor excuse to retcon her into being Keima's actual little sister. I have zero problems with Elsie staying with Keima but there had to be a better way to handle that than what we got. Even though a lot of things about the final arc were foreshadowed the arc itself felt like it came out of nowhere and just raised more questions than it answered. It was a mess that almost ruined what was otherwise an excellent series. The only thing I liked about it was Dokuro and even then she couldn't carry the arc on her own.
All my bitching aside the ending was ultra satisfying romance-wise. Chihiro and Keima were practically made for eachother and their developement was super well done. If I had to nitpick I'd say that the girls were a bit quick to forgive him for all the bullshit he made them go through (especially Chihiro and Ayumi) but it's not that big of an issue.

wasn't there also a third season to the anime? MAL says Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Megami-hen was s3 just in case you didn't see that. There's also Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai: 4-nin to Idol (1 standalone episode that I rated fairly poorly, don't even remember what it was about) and Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Tenri-hen which supposedly was 2 episodes.
That being said, while I absolutely loved s1 and s2 for the anime as well as the earlier parts of the manga (like you said, basicly everything pre + Show Spoiler +
time-travel
, s3 and the end of the manga were just not that good.
It's been some time so not sure if I remember it correctly but I think the manga basicly got axed and had to end within a couple weeks which is why it ended so abruptly. Not that the final arc itself even before getting axed was any good. And same can be said about s3 of the anime. At least they DID give us an ending to it rather than just leaving it unfinished so it could have been worse but certainly not what fans were looking forward to.
Also from 2 years ago TL secret Santa:

And unrelated: I finished Koe de Oshigoto which I had to watch due to the TL/OG bet. I mean I'm basicly hating it for what it is supposed to be, which is somewhat unfair but it's really not something I'd ever want to watch.

I can understand coming into Yamato 2199 fresh and being disappointed by Akira not winning. But it makes tons of sense when you see what Akira was like in the original Yamato: https://myanimelist.net/character/59567/Akira_Yamamoto

Nice, I'm a little bit late but congrats!
Yeah I'm aware about the third season and OVA's, I've already watched the OVA's and i'm planning on watching S3 soon. I just decided to read the manga first when i saw that the thirst season skipped 70 chapters and then covered 80 chapters in 12 episodes.
The manga might've been axed but I get the feeling that the author's original plan was to finish the manga shortly after the goddesses arc but he either changed his mind or his editors told him to extend the story so they could sell more volumes. For what it's worth in the bonus chapter after ch. 189 he even says he accomplished everything he could have with the storyline. I took that as "This is where I wanted to end my story" but maybe i'm just being delusional.
Reminds me of when Bleach still went on even after the Aizen arc was over because it still sold so well.

Wait, how does ANY anime adaptation skip the waterpark date? That's a must have for an anime. Even anime that has no business with a waterpark date always throws in at least an obligatory pool episode.
wasn't there some date between him and haqua in a park or am I imagining things? Or was it with Tenri?
found this:

I actually went through that guys youtube a few months back, really interesting stuff. Maybe I'll do a rewatch session this weekend.
I find it interesting how different weeb tastes are to everyone else.
Ya that guy is pretty good, not uber impressive like none other thinks of what he said before, but his passion and he truly did his homework for his videos are cool
