I was busy yesterday so I couldn't get into an LoGH mood. So today I watched 19-22, so this spoiler is for all four of those episodes.
+ Show Spoiler +I was not expecting that bomb. Greenhill is the ringleader? -_- I was thoroughly impressed with Oberstein though. That plan to use Ovlesser was brilliant. I don't know how much that Reinhard will listen to him in the future, because of his pride, as you guys said. Oh, was Schenkopp the Rosen Ritter guy? And damn, Julian is coming of age: ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/0t8EN.png) I can't believe that Merkatz and Fahrenheit are even with Braunschweig. That dude is such an idiot. Why does he have those two competent admirals if he's not gonna listen to them AT ALL? I have a feeling that Merkatz will die or not be a factor because of his age, but Fahrenheit is young, I could easily see him becoming part of Reinhard's staff. Also, what's with this picture? I know that this was made in the 80s, but doesn't this show take place like 1500 years from now? ![[image loading]](http://imgur.com/gFY3I.png) Also, it seems like Truniht will end up working with Phezzan. At least Rubinsky wants to employ him. I think my favorite part of the series so far is that, all this stuff is happening now, and you'd expect it to be the high point of the series. But there's still ninety episodes left. Ninety. I can't even fathom how much more can happen @_@ And no, the Westerland Incident has not happened yet.

Also checking out Yumekui Merry; somewhat hilarious concept so far, but I'm still interested in seeing where it goes.
Indeed :D
How was Yumekui Merry btw? I was thinking of watching that too.

And unlike alot of the characters of his type, he doesn't start off as a whiney little emo brat. It makes him all the more likable. The part about how this stuff that is happening now, and how you would expect it to be the high point of a normal series... Just keep watching, this show will continue to impress you. I was saying the same thing when I was half way through, and simply couldn't imagine how the series could keep progressing.

Well, I'm up to ep.9 of TTGL and I have to say - what the fuck is this shit? The main heroes are some of the most annoying characters I have ever seen in any anime ever. The first is a kid who's scared of his own shadow and is (currently) heart broken because the chick he liked kissed someone else. The second is a kamikaze retard that every time he opens his mouth, gives me the urge to close the whole damn tab out of disappointment. The chick seems alright I guess, compared to the crowd she's mixed in. The gender-confused mechanic gives me the creeps. His jokes are borderline sexual innuendo. The altar boy is so fucking cautious and untrusting I keep praying someone will cave his skull in with a punch.
The humor lines are corny. As corny as it gets. I feel like this anime more than any is catering to 7-8 year olds. Can't understand how anyone older than 10 would be amused by this kind of behavior or humor. Guess the mech fights are this shows saving grace >_> The "combine" mechanic feels like Power Rangers all over again...

The first few eps were funny, but I thought that after that there wasn't much humor. Maybe my memory is off? The kid is a coming of age character. He becomes awesome later on. As for the older guy, he's just pure epic.
Edit: Maybe the show just isn't for you.

Did you expect Gurren Lagann to be Evangelion or something, with a dark serious plot? Plus, I completely disagree with your assessment of Simon, seeing as how it was pretty much all him that took down that giant land-ship, and Simon was the one who came to help Kamina on his own against those Ganmen(when he found out about the cause of the subterranean earthquakes).
"I feel like this anime more than any is catering to 7-8 year olds."
Really? Seriously? Because I can totally see a similarity between a show like this, and childrens shows like Rugrats and Spongebob, or whatever it is that kids watch these days. You know, with since they have lots of battles and explosions aka violence, a girl with a large breasts who is barely dressed, + Show Spoiler +the death of a main character , blood, "sexual innuendo", etc. Oh yeah, don't forget the show were those people were pretty much going to sacrifice two innocent children, you see that all the time in shows for kids.
Also, the "combine" mechanic is Getter Robo or Gunbuster all over again. If you are going to complain about a rehash, at least get it right what they are rehashing.

There's a line between being funny while doing all that. After the 10th time in every consecutive episode it has LOST IT'S CHARM.

It is just how Super robot shows are, either you can put up with the hot blood stuff or you can't. Kind of pointless to argue over it.
Madoka is pretty interesting, time to find out where it came from 0.o
EDIT - oh neat, original.
I've adopted Southlight's policy with demos, except with animes and pv instead

Its setting is nothing new but it's still somewhat interesting; from what I see, try to mix in Soul Eater-esque (not really but it does sort of have that sort of vibe...I think =/) visuals with Omamori Himari/Shakugan no Shana's premise and you basically get Yumekui Merry. Merry's character design, personally, is beautiful, though no comment on her personality as there's not much revealed about her yet.
tl;dr, it's alright, though it's probably better if you gave it a shot personally in order to determine whether or not if you'll want to follow the series or not. Yes it's not original in basically every aspect imaginable only time can tell whether or not if it will succeed or fail.

Magica Madoka is an original concept; there's no base material to work from save what they're making as they're going along.
Though it can be comically summed up as Nanoha's settings with Bakemonogatari visuals and Hidamari Sketch characters. =|

Yeah, comparing a Super Robot anime to two classic and hugely influenial Super Robot anime from the 70s and 80s that Gurren Lagann directly draws influence makes much less sense than comparing it to a 90s live action Sentai that GL shares very little in common with.

Honestly if it wasn't for that crack right there, I wouldn't have taken offense like I have.

Gurren Lagann is a beautiful piece of work that's endearingly cheesy. It doesn't hide from the cheese, it embraces it and takes you along for the ride. If you watch the entire thing and you aren't feeling, ROW ROW FIGHT THA POWAH then you're missing out.

Indeed :D How was Yumekui Merry btw? I was thinking of watching that too. LOGH talk: + Show Spoiler +Julian is coming of age, but hes still growing up. Watching him grow is pretty satisfying. + Show Spoiler +I hope that there isn't some stupid shit like the Empire and Alliance unifying under a common threat like aliens or something. This isn't Gundam 00. Fortunately. I still can't believe they decided to add aliens.

Yumekui Merry was kinda odd. It wasn't bad by any means, but on the same token, there wasn't anything I particularly liked about the show. Guess I'll give it another ep or two and see where the plot goes.
