wow, I watched Prison School recently even though I knew it was full of Fan Service but for some reason I actually liked it. The part where + Show Spoiler +
Gakuto breaks his Guan Yu Figurine actually made me sad & appreciate friendship more.
Are there any more Animes out there that might be good even though they look awful at first?
I think what I liked the most about Prison School is that it wasnt full of cliché predictable events like a male Character tripping in the presence of a female character where you know right away that a boobgrab is about to happen.

Overpowered characters in other series will have them be enemies, neutral or allies with a specific condition so they don't overshadow the main character. When the godlike character is the main character we get a lot of hype for a fight that has no tension. The story can always be easily solved by the MC and may even require the main character to be written off if they want a real conflict for the side characters. The whole thing just becomes a spectacle with no compelling story.
In general, I would agree. However, I recently started watching Kamen Rider Kabuto, and Souji "Path of Heaven, Ruler of All" Tendou is such a based godlike MC I can't help be fall in love with the guy. Definitely requires some tongue in cheek to pull off, though.

I for one bumped my ReZero temporary rating from a 6 to an 8 just off episode 15 :D. That's probably overrating it a bit now, but I have hope it will continue on that tone til the end.

I have no idea what's going on. Cute girls, but it seems like every single one is an anime trope and there's no rhyme or reason or even hook to make me care.
So maybe next episode.
Exactly, however I'm worried considering people are saying the adaption sucks badly. Maybe not.
Handa-kun ep1 was extremely different from Barakamon, which was quite expected. Was worse than I thought, the 1st half sucked. 2nd half was decent but not that funny as well. Probably gonna have some better episodes though.
Yes, it's extremely different from Barakamon - at least the beginning of the manga was. Which is a shame. They should just make another Barakamon season. Need more Naru in my life.
You might like Amaama to Inazuma then, it had a very good first episode and while not the same there are a lot of similarities.
I also think you'd probably like 91 days out of the new animes this season.
I'll try to remember to put Amaama on my ptw list then. Thanks for that!
91 days is already on there, although from the trailer I kind of got the vibe it might be a trainwreck. We'll see. I probably have a whole other week before I actually start with the new season.
Also have to catch up to Reero. I will probably be disappointed though. It got hyped here all the time and it was kind of boring to me so I don't really expect it to become really good. A bit better would be nice though.
I'd say next episode is going to be crucial for me about ReZero. I can see why people like those 2 most recent episodes and there was a lot of good stuff
I really liked seeing him break down mentally, completly. That's the kind of thing I'd expect to see happening if you go through those things. Hell, even spending your days, making memories with people, the one you love no less and then having everything reset while you can remember and they don't seems like something that would drive people insane quite quickly imo. I can only guess that things like Groundhog Day gave a rather postive outlook on stuff like that but I certainly don't want to imagine what that would be like. Obviously seeing what happened to Rem and the others completly pushed him over his limits.
And like I said, I liked seeing that because it's what I'd expect to happen after he's going trough painful death after painful death, seeing his friends getting killed nonstop and being the only one aware of the situation with noone to talk to. And then we had that ending with him being all determined. I can only assume it's him being fueled by rage but if you're that broken I don't think a "okay let's get back on the bike" attitude is just going to do the trick, even if it's triggered by anger/madness to hurt the people that hurt Rem&co.
Idk, long story short I would have expected him to stay a mental potato after that and wasn't convinced yet by the turning point. Hence really looking forward to next episode to see if that rectifies it/adds more to show to what degree he's still nuts

Yea, but you can't let the shows progression get bogged down by prolonging Subaru's catatonia. It'd wreck any momentum and I can definitively imagine it would turn off viewers.

it's just a shitty situation to be in. Watching him be a mental potato for a while is what I want to happen but then again I'm fairly sure noone wants to actually watch such a show. Including myself.
I'm just set up for disappointment no matter what happens
So I just finished ReLife after a week not watching inbetween. + Show Spoiler +
Was really hooked the first 1-2 episodes. Not so much anymore in the middle. The last episode was good again until I realized that that's the ending... just like that They said that the fireworks/summer vacation was the first semester, the whole ReLife thing is an entire year so there's still a 2nd semester to this I'd assume? The reveal of Kayanon being the first test subject was super obvious but I didn't mind that. Just the fact that this ended up being the mother of all "go read the source if you want an ending"-ending we got here...
That being said, I actually liked it. I'd watch a season2 both for enjoyment as well as to get a proper end but I highly doubt we'll get one.

I think his mental break was a good thing. I think it could have done in a way better way over the last few episodes but it kind of was what the show needed. Now if he just goes back to his normal stupidity, filled with rage, that would be bad. I don't know, the show is kind of on the edge of getting ok for me right now. That said, the new villain is terrible.
I didn't dislike Betelgeuse, but I gotta admit I laughed when watching him which is strange considering he's a villain. He's legit crazy though. It was funny how he made fun of Subaru's level of madness. There should be some sort of explanation for why he's so fucked up coming I guess, as some people were like you and some even compared him to some Akame Ga Kill character and people replying were saying they would likely change their mind soon.
This show requires quite some patience I guess, as it doesn't throw all info immediately. For example some people are complaining about how Subaru's resetting isn't explained and on how Emilia is so bland so far, both things that apparently get adressed at some point (though IDK if in the anime).
why would they want to explain the mechanic behind the reset at this point? That's the "mystery" the show has going for it and should be left until very late
The reset mechanic is connected to the witch. We don't know why yet but I don't think we should necessarily know it at this point because of how the story went. The characters had no chance of learning about it and in this case the viewer should learn it when the characters learn it.
Same goes for Emilia. Although the most recent episodes kind of hinted at their connection to the witch? Did anybody notice Emilia's body was the only one that didn't show up dead in the massacres? We only saw her flower once, that's all.
I feel like we get our answers to both by the end, which is a good thing.
