I will try Steins Gate and Slayers from Que. Good season for catching up on backlog it seems, I don't have any particular high hopes for the 5 I choose either. ReZero is going to have to pull double duty and carry 2 seasons in a row. | ||

What I really enjoy about Mob Psycho 100 is that it's apparently going to be a lot more slice-of-life | ||

Mahouka would be fine if the actual fights were done better. Even then it is still an enjoyable series to read. | ||

What annoys me most is how inconsistent the tone of the show is. They go from breast-fondling silly face situations to "look how edgy and bloody this all is". It's as if they weren't sure whether they want a serious or silly show... or trying to get both groups of viewers to watch this nonsense. The result is what every compromise is: Lacking on all ends. + Show Spoiler [minor spoiler] + And why the fuck does the main villain (I assume it's going to be the main villain at any rate) have to be one of those "genius child with personality problems" type characters? I cannot remember a single one of those types to be good, they have all been shit and were a huge detriment to their respective shows. It's unfortunate that the show has taken a (predicted) turn for the worse. Depends on the series really. OPM is satire/parody and comedy with some cool action thrown in while mahouka tries to be completely serious while having magical ninja jesus batman flying around. It depends entirely on how a series uses having an OP protagonist. | ||

(Dies irae comes to mind here for me) 2. You can have it for comedy (sakamoto desu ga, opm, mob psycho) 3. And you can have mc pwning everybody else for lulz. (oretueeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee) 1 is fine because it's about balance. 2 and 3 are like cake to me. Fun to have once in a while. If it's all you watch though, i would get worried. Also, sometimes there are stories with op main characters but they have to do some "clever" way to defeat their opponents without using any force like solving a riddle or something. No game no life is an example here from what i've seen in the animes | ||

The biggest negative point probably is the MC being (very) annoying at times. But it doesn't matter much to me, the world is very interesting to me and it's a bonus that the story is very very long (I hear the WN is over 2 times as long as the Harry Potter books and still ongoing) and hopefully there will be more seasons. If not, the VN gets translated to English so I'll definitely buy that at some point. It's amazing how much impact this episode had, MAL score jumped a lot and I don't think there is another show with that many 5/5 votes and discussion there (and on Reddit too, 4473 comments atm, but I haven't checked Reddit for long so I don't know how much other popular shows had). It's quite amazing after how many people didn't like episode 13 and especially 14. | ||
