The only thing I'm not entirely sure what to think of is the purposefully placed glas of wine for the children to knock over. I expected him to have just used the "riddle" as bait and run off without telling them.

Bold move by Kabeneri, having the plot make the only decent character act lame.
|
Kabaneri Ep.5 + Show Spoiler +getting more and more disappointed, i'd appreciate it if the characters weren't always yelling hoarsely it's almost becoming earrape when my volume is so low. The stupidity/overconfidence of the characters is starting to really make them seem just about as smart as Mitsumune from Mayoiga.

Because I saw this, I've started watching Silver Spoon.
And I'm finishing season 1 right now. Through it all, I can say that Fuji-sensei best sensei.

+ Show Spoiler +I think it was smart from him to do it this way. The children were children from wealthy families. If the children later on tell everyone that there was a mysterious man that gave them a mission, promised them something but just left without a word in the end that may cause and investigation or something. Now they are probably just telling everyone that there was a nice man on the train playing with them.

Sooo I finally managed to finish GitS:SAC (not 2nd GIG yet). The last 6 (?) episodes were good. Like I said before I wasn't a big fan of most "stand alone" episodes, they were OK but didn't make me wanna watch a lot.
+ Show Spoiler +Quite expected that the Major didn't die (but probably just because I know there's a sequel), just a little sad that the Laughing Man guy isn't joining Sector 9 in the end. The characters were OK, but they honestly didn't really grow on me (maybe even more so because I didn't binge watch it), so I could've lived with any of them dying. My favourite char was Batou though.
What's refreshing though is that the characters in GitS are adults, unlike 99% animes were they are <=18 years old.

+ Show Spoiler +Batou is a boss and so is the major (one of my favourite femalie characters in anime because she is badass and smart at the same time for a change). I think the characters are great and their interaction feels so natural which is rather rare in anime. If you watch ep1 of 2nd gig, you'll now what I mean. It emphasises how sworn in section 9 is.
I think the reason why the characters didn't connect with you as much is because you made such long breaks. What GitS, as an half episodic show, did great was to use the episodic episodes to flesh out the characters (show how they act in certain situations etc.) and for world-building - both are very important for the show. That's something serious episodic shows should do but even great ones like Mushishi fail to accomplish. The only reasons I didn't gave SAC a 10/10 was because it felt like some episodic episodes were better than others and because it felt like they could have connected the episodic episodes to the main plot in a better way.
The end of s1 was very tense and definitely something to binge. I guess for someone like you, if the whole series was like that, you would have loved it to death.

I do agree the stand alone episodes were for world building and some of them were very good (not all tho). But like I said I enjoy animes way more when there is a noticeable connection between episodes.
Oh, and yeah, I binge watched the last (6?) episodes. I started with episodes 11 again which I actually knew, I appeared to have stopped at episode 12.
On another note, easily the best Flying Witch episode yet! Lots of Akane and Chinatsu made for a cute and funny episode.

How to interpret this smiley?

2nd Gig was definately a lot more interconnected, so yes, I think for HolydaKing this might be true. I think enjoyed s1 more, although marginally, because I was more of a fan of the emphasis on philosophy stuff in s1 than the politic stuff in s2.

S2 also explored the major as a character more which was nice. I still need to read the manga.

That ReZero..
Shit it whack.

After having watched the new episode of Big Order i had to go check reddit and the first comment really sums it all up + Show Spoiler +"So, today we had censorship, abortion, incest, ¿lolicon?, amputations... A common day on Big Order"
What a show, and I'm not even sure in what way i mean that lol

Good episode of ReZero as expected.

Agreed
This episode is as hype as Erased was last season (early on). In other words, always disappointed to see the show end so fast xD Really impatient to see what's going to happen next week!!
In my opinion, it is clear that Re ero is above all other shows this season in terms of storytelling!

Re: Zero is good, but I'm not sure about the storytelling. It's there, but it's developing over-all slowly (which happens when you repeat the same time a few times). It's making progress, though.
Also, I may be the only one watching Space Patrol: Luluco, but this most recent episode Trigger decided to just throw out the vague suggestions + Show Spoiler +and just drop a big chunk of Kill La Kill right in.
