@ DCLXVI
Probably would have been much more epic if you would just keep watching the show, rather than have to see the spoilers. But I guess the plot was predictable enough, even to the point of being cliche (although still "fresh" and "unique"). But then again, it didn't seem that way in your case...
Also I'll have to agree with Sentenal and the others that told you to finish the show. It's a shame that he had to spell out the rest of the story for you, although there is still a lot of stuff for you to find out, as you should have been able to see generally what direction the show would take (which Sentenal described). Seriously, did you really expect the show only to be popular because of what happened + Show Spoiler +. It's not even the half way point!
Also, unfortunately TTGL is quite a rare anime, heavily influenced from many other animes but being able to create its own unique feel. So it'll probably be hard to find other animes like it (inspirational-mecha-EPIC).
@Shadesofkarma
There are a lot of other "mindfuck" animes out there (popular ones that is, not necessarily ones I like or recommend). Idk what kind of mindfuck you mean though. There's:
Edit: Umineko no naku koro ni, can't believe I forgot. It's the same creator and such as Higurashi, and still horror/mystery genre. But it's a different story (whether or not it's in the same universe would be spoilers... I think?)
FLCL - By Gainax, it's only a few episodes long. Lots of references to [japanese] pop culture, not as in jokes but what actually what happens in each episode, like a parody or satire. It's mindfuck because the things that happen are so strange, especially when you think about the source material they're making fun of.
Elfen Lied - Cyborg/clone/robot girl or something (can't remember, it might be a spoiler anyways so I won't clarify haha) escapes from some facility and tries to find her place in life. [Extremely] Gory, bloody, psychological, haven't seen it but it's supposed to also be heavy on themes like the human spirit, love, compassion, belonging, etc.
Excel Saga - Adult comedy. But it's black comedy, I think it's called. Random events, lots of blood, lots of erotic stuff, lots of disturbing stuff, and sporadic jokes.
Neon Genesis Evangelion - Also by Gainax, and is referenced to in FLCL. Basically a boy must find his place and purpose in the world, while needing to protect the world from strange beings called Angels by piloting a Mecha. However, things don't seem to be what they appear... Starts off like a normal mecha anime, with some heavy depressing/emotional scenes/episodes. Towards the end, the story becomes more twisted as you can say, actually due to budget cuts, and the show becomes purely psychological at the end. (End of Evangelion was made to attempt to create a "legit" ending since the psychological ending was due to budget cuts. But once again the movie ended in psychological mindfuck). The series is being adapted once again (now without budget problems hurrah) and renamed as Rebuild of Evangelion, released as 4 movies. It's a remake of the series basically, cutting a lot of the depressing/emotional/mindfuck out (however whether or not there will be mindfuck is unclear).
School Days - Haven't seen it but from what I know, it isn't mindfuck until like the last episode. Otherwise it's like a slice-of-life/romance/drama (with foreshadowing of the mindfuck ending?)

There's nothing in the last episode. It's a cute slice-of-life/romance/drama just like you say. You can expect a very good comedy.
Now go watch it!

School Days was good. But i don't recommend it to anyone that can't take a Tragedy.

Haha ok. May be I'll watch it... + Show Spoiler +since I already watched and saw the ending, it shouldn't be as hard to watch it if I watch it for the all the cute stuff before xD

Because that's what anyone would expect.

Personally I think that Gurren Lagann's most unique aspect is its popularity, in getting normally mainstream/casual anime watchers to enjoy a Super Robot anime. Over the top, hot blooded mecha battles with the awesome badass lead, featuring fan service, is like the standard in Super Robot shows. Its just that other Super Robot shows didn't make a splash for whatever reason. Gurren Lagann probably did well because its a Gainex thing, and people love Evangelion for some reason. I'm not saying its bad, or anything like that, I just don't think its that rare if you are willing to watch some other shows in the genre.
I will say its fairly rare recently, thought.

Those episodes were great. Can't wait to see what happens next. Reinhart is more awesome than ever. He said he wants to control the universe! He got an instant fan from me. I'm also happy he can be human sometimes. And he said "I am already thinking about it", referring to a plan to defeat the alliance. This plan can't fail if he thinks about it!
Enough fanboyism. Expecting a civil war in the Empire which will divide it in 2 and make the alliance a much, much larger threat. There's no way the actual Kaizer will be strong enough to keep the Empire united. But at the same time history shows us Louis XIV... Anyway, we'll see. Ah, okay, I think I have a better idea of where ep 16 is now, so I can talk about it more safely.
+ Show Spoiler +IIRC the position of Regent is just going to get shared for now. There are more pressing matters at hand (Prince Braunschweig and co opposing them), so both Reinhard and Lichtenlade are just taking advantage of one another for now. Its pretty obvious there is going to be a civil war between Reinhard and the High Nobles who oppose him/want their lines to inherit the throne. How it plays out, and how the Alliance acts, we will just have to see... Its always fun to watch Reinhard and Yang's battles in this show, both their strategic battles, and their tactical battles.

Thursday. Normally Amazon ships stuff I order within the next day or two.
Oh well. It's probably worth the wait.

Gundam 00 movie: + Show Spoiler + O.o
Was someone watching Fafnir in the Azure when they made this movie? Very un-gundamlike in terms of story telling. Overall, the movie was a mixed bag for me. Impressive visuals, but I want to see mechs fight each other instead of alien blob. ace pilots go at it with each other

lol ace pilots in Gundam 00
2 of the 3 aces died, and the other one got ruined before the movie even came out
That said, I have the movie downloaded, just haven't watched it yet. My expectations are low.

lol ace pilots in Gundam 00 2 of the 3 aces died, and the other one got ruined before the movie even came out Are you referring to Graham MEESTAH BUSHIDO? Graham, Sergei, and Ali were the only good/ace pilots in 00. Then S2 killed Sergei and Ali, and completely ruined Graham to the extent that he would been better off dead.

Huh...?
Angel Beats was done by the fall season. And it definitely wasn't the best.....
And oreimo being the best of this season? Eeeehhhhh???

Totally agree. Angel Beats is awesome, looking forward to next season~
Agreed Angel Beats was very good but I'm iffy on season 2 because if I am not mistaken it introduces a whole new cast, and that makes me sad

Lol, yes, I use the term generously.
Dunno, the fight scenes were pretty (with lots of laser beam spam), but somewhat lacking. It became similar to Endless Waltz where they just wailed on poor saps, and only got in trouble cause of sheer numbers. Perhaps too much got resolved in the regular season.
