Umineko ep8 was epic, for those who read the English it'll be just another half a year probably!

+ Show Spoiler [LoGH 15+16] + That battle went as expected. The Alliance was just stretched too thin and lacked supplies, so there really wasn't much they could do. And then the high ranking admirals had to be stupid and send people to their deaths needlessly... Yang's trick with the fusion bombs was pretty neat. I liked that a lot. Phezzan is a front for Earth cultists? lolwut Admiral Muckenberger is pretty smart. Get out while you can so you don't get involved in the imminent shitstorm that will follow the Kaiser's death. ![]() I don't understand Yang's decision to take command of Iserlohn, but whatever. It'll probably get explained later or something. Who names these ships? O.o ![]()

I don't remember the exact reason that he decides to take command of Iserlohn, but the main reason is probably to try and keep away from the politicians lol As for the Earth Cult stuff, things like that start to become a bit more important come second season and beyond. Not only does this show touch on politics, but also crazy religious fanatics!

Is it just me or was anyone confused as hell by the first arc in Darker than Black? I had go back and rewatch it.

Remember the Giga Drill Breaker Kamina used right before he died? That become's Simons signature move, not to mention he even comes up with variants that are even crazier. The exploits Simon is doing by just the midpoint of the show outclass anything Kamina ever did, and the show only gets more over the top from there. Seriously, there is a reason why Gurren Lagann is one of the most popular animes out there, and is known for its crazy over the top ridiculous mecha fights. Do you really think the anime would have that reputation if it stopped after 8 episodes? Seriously, its like you are just looking for reasons to drop the show. Alright, I suppose I'll have to finish this then. Give me a week or two though to get over ep 8. Anything to watch in the meantime that is crazy like this show?

Episode 1 of Mazinkaiser SKL is out, and its the most similar to Gurren Lagann by far in recent years. Main difference is that its even more violent lol. Unfortunately it will be a while till they release the next episodes for it. The next most similar thing would probably be New Getter Robo, Gunbuster, and Diebuster (aka Gunbuster 2). New Getter Robo is a revamp of the original Getter Robo anime. Same type of show as Gurren Lagann (over the top Super Robot stuff with crazy hot-blooded main characters). Gunbuster is made by the same people who did Gurren Lagann, Gainex (also Evangelion/FLCL/etc). This was the 80s anime that established them as a good studio. Gunbuster is considered to be a 'classic'. Also a Super Robot show, and Gurren Lagann took alot of influence from this show. Diebuster is a sequel to Gunbuster, and alot more recent. Stylistically, its like a combination between Gunbuster and FLCL. Animation and fight wise, Diebuster is very similar to Gurren Lagann, except its weirder due to influence from FLCL lol

Just finished Shiki, and I liked it alot despite the horrifically slow start. I really liked how all the characters were very distinct and some of them did not fit at all into conventional character tropes. Plus, those hairstyles/outfits were awesome.

+ Show Spoiler + I can't wait to see what happens after this. I wonder how the Alliance will rebuild. And won't they just appoint a regent to serve in the new Kaiser's place until he comes of age?

I've rewatched to ep 9 now, so hopefully I'll get fully caught up soonish to comment. But as for the Alliance, the defeat is a huge blow to them. Their only trump card against the Empire after the defeat, is that they still hold Iserlohn, and with Yang there, there is little hope for the Empire to retake it and invade Alliance territory again.

+ Show Spoiler + Alliance gets terribly owned. The kaizer dies. Julian Minci is finally a soldier (The ED kind of spoiler us something about him being a main character, obviously Yang's apprentice in some way). Those episodes were great. Can't wait to see what happens next. Reinhart is more awesome than ever. He said he wants to control the universe! He got an instant fan from me. I'm also happy he can be human sometimes. And he said "I am already thinking about it", referring to a plan to defeat the alliance. This plan can't fail if he thinks about it! Enough fanboyism. Expecting a civil war in the Empire which will divide it in 2 and make the alliance a much, much larger threat. There's no way the actual Kaizer will be strong enough to keep the Empire united. But at the same time history shows us Louis XIV... Anyway, we'll see.
