There's apparently also the term 同人ゲーム (doujin ge-mu / doujin soft) for games. But no idea if that's a term people actually use. 4. Dōjinshiis the Japanese term for self-published works, usually magazines, manga or novels. Dōjinshi are often the work of amateurs, though some professional artists participate as a way to publish material outside the regular industry. The term dōjinshi is derived from dōjin (同人, literally "same person", used to refer to a person or persons with whom one shares a common goal or interest) and shi (誌, a suffix generally meaning "periodical publication"). the 誌 (shi) is what you have in 雑誌 (magazine) and by itself also is mostly about written stuff. So I'd guess it is mostly about manga/novels | ||

Doujinshi is self-published stuff, it's however often stuff made by fans. Kara no kyoukai was afaik originally released as doujinshi, for example. Type-Moon started out as a doujin circle, lol. The tsukihime VN was released as a doujin. | ||
