theres an alternate 'ending' to the series instead of giant tank cannon girl you have http://www.mangareader.net/716/darker-than-black-shikkoku-no-hana.html which is in manga format. It takes place after the original DT 26 episodes and "replaces" ryuusei, and honestly I like this sequel a lot more aside from the "obvious" ending that is forcefed in each of the series + Show Spoiler +
kills off basically everyone but the main character, especially after spending such a nice time developing all of the side characters. no one can make me cry like Wolf's Rain did ever again and I'll be damned if they try D:
Yeah but at least Evangelion redeemed itself by basically remaking the series with the movies, those are some good stories right there, BUT I haven't seen the ending yet of course and so many series hit the ground running only to flip and do a fantastic face plant that somehow despite their momentum propels them back where they stared.

That is true. Forgot we were translating....though every where I've seen Distant has been in the title. Maybe "Hoshi" implies distant. But iono....
It might be to avoid confusing it with the voice of some singer or something. I would say it's one of the more straightforward translations.Try to explain how 'Kimi ga Nozomu Eien' became 'Rumbling Hearts' instead .

I enjoyed it, but its a "predictable" sports manga with the same premise of the underdog + their risky X that gets them wins(followed by a half an episode of explinations). I enjoy those kinds of sports anime/manga that show off for knowing the sport but it does get repetitive if the character development isn't up to par, which is the case a few times.
I just finished "5 centimeters per second" and damn... it was beautiful. So deep yet easy to understand. If there ever was an anime on my MAL list that deserved a perfect 10, it would be this one. I actually went over my MAL anime list and downrated some stuff just so the 10 would really mean "really that good".

No. Got a link to wiki or MAL page? All I get is "The Malancholy of Haruhi no Yuutsu", but those are anime shows and ONAs, not movies.
edit: nvm, found it. http://myanimelist.net/anime/7311 gawd, so much piling up on my "To watch" list.... 41 shows... where to find the time to watch them all...

5 Centimeters per Second is up there amongst my favorite Animes period. I think I rated it a ten on MAL.
Have you watched anything else by Shinkai? Voices of a Distant Star and Promises Made in Our Early Days were all also really good, though 5 Centimeters still is a bit better.
