lol On the other side of things, apparently Overlord sells phenomenal. Good for Madhouse I guess. I wish there would be a second season of Overlord in the future. Now that we are past the slow first 1-2 volumes (?) the show got quite good, aside from some weird pacing from time to time.
It sells good but not phenomenal. The novels got a good boost. Probably 70-80k for early volumes and 40-50 for later volumes and the anime BDs are estimated at like 8k. Unfortunately, we are talking about madhouse here. Madhouse has a terrible track record when it comes to season 2s regardless of sales. Which means, don't hold your breath for it.

That's not because of sales, both are selling really good. It's just the studio in this case.

Really? I thought Madhouse had at least a decent amount of sequels. They might not be the studio that rides on one franchise forever but they have some long franchises with sequels and completed adaptions on their list. Anyways, it's not like I would be exactly sad if there won't be a sequel to Overlord. It's just that it would be nice if there would be one. As for the sales, yeah in raw numbers it's not phenomenal but the volumes are all over the top sale charts. So compared to a lot of other things it is selling phenomenal.

I liked Roka's art style, and the greater premise.
I just wish, at some point, they'd ever have gotten to that greater premise. The mystery isn't bad, but too much dialogue without being as entertaining as a Monogatari.

Speaking of Madhouse and cliffhangers. Mahouka was done by them as well and I can only assume that sold like crazy. Given the studio I thought we'd maybe get a s2 in the far away future. Surely not anytime soon, but I was pretty sure they'd release some OVAs with how good it was selling. Like the beach-episode and all the stuff that was hinted at in the end.
They didn't even do that when really... a single OVA could cover those short stories but they apparently just really don't like following up on anime. Moreso than other studios.
|
Madhouse is weird. They have no problem doing long running stuff or even putting in 24 eps for Mahouka but then just kind of don't do more. At least they not Brain's Base. There'd be no hope then or would there just be more hope as someone else will do a shitty job for a 2nd season but at least there'd be a 2nd season?

There was enough material to have another season of Mahouka when it finished airing. So I kind of doubt you'll ever see a 2nd season now years later but then again Mushishi got a 2nd season. Still no Black Lagoon either.

Sometimes I find myself assuming that they pick up shit from time to time to generate some money to do the awesome shows that don't sell. But that still doesn't explain why they wouldn't pick up old shit that sold well when they need to generate some more money.

@Numy: For Mushishi someone decided that a full adaption of it should be done, that's all. Overlord has the lizardman arc so that will be interesting if an S2 comes. Even if they skim it there will still be at least 1-2 entire episodes with no Nazarick characters to bring viewers back into Overlord.

Dub was so much more chillo for this show because I could immerse myself into the world much better. so basicly it started off by introducting a loli (?) vampire that is on the verge of death and needs some kind of life-essence or whatever they called it. So she sneaks into Sora's room and tries to give him a blowjob, because that fluid has the best concentration of whatever it's called. Obviously. So after facepalming really hard at that the actual story begins and they have to deal with mermaids. And their "racial trait" is stupidity. Literally. They're all just retarded. I don't remember any big pre-order canceling for rokka. The only one I remember of that recently was Tomino's new gundam which was pretty bleh.

Mermaid arc was pretty underwhelming and well...weird as fuck, especially that one character.
They wouldn't even need to do that arc next, just skip to Jibril and elves or go into the flashback of how the war of the gods ended.. But nope the anime ended with them challenging the highest ranked of the races to a game lol so it was really just a w/e ending for the glorified advert that it was.
