I finished watching No Game No Life. Was alright. Yukarin as Jibril was good. Steph was a cute bully victim. But there were two big flaws that annoyed the shit out of me while watching.
The first is Shiro. Its been a very long time since I've disliked a character as much as her. Couldn't they have figured out a better way to use a loli like her? Anime already figured out what to do with annoy lolis all the way back in 1982, so why couldn't they just somehow figure out how to do something like this with her: + Show Spoiler + + Show Spoiler +Suggesting she should have gotten her head blown off is me being facetious, btw
Second great annoyance was the fucking red outlines and red shading on everything. Why does anime do this occasionally? Its like it was constantly trying to burn my retinas out with bright colors. It made it hard to enjoy the fanservice.
All that said, I still enjoyed it more than those two things annoyed me.

I heard this complaint about Saekano too when it aired. Doesn't bother me much tbh. I found NGNL more fan service-y than most harem series I've watched, haha.

Shiro has two modes. "I'm a walking computer" and "Nii please give me your dick". God damn I hate characters like that. There are countless lolis who are better than her, I couldn't even begin to start listing them.

That gif disturbs me Sent lol. Have to agree about Shiro though. Hell even the whole way they developed the siblings relationship/dynamic was pretty blah.

The red outline and shading is the director's specialty/quirk. She does that a lot.

Seems a little unnecessary to throw a little girl on the front line of a battle just to get her head blown off ~_~
|
Rokka ended + Show Spoiler +Damn, it was the bunny girl.
Next season, I will avoid forums though. Can't tell if someone is genuinely trying to figure it out, or just trying to trick us with their 'real' theories from the novels
I'm hoping there will be more seasons :S Any news? Is it selling well in Japan?
Gate : The anime started strong, but it felt like a really weak finale.
Me + brother were discussing the other day about mecha/gundams.
Playing the roles of armchair generals... it seems strange or illogical to make such huge robots (except for the cool factor) :S Huge robots = huge targets. We were using the Battleships as example : they are removed from modern fleets due to their vulnerability to air superiority.
Are there any explanations given as to why Gundams are the superior weapons in the Gundam universe? Is it because of the 'gundamium alloy' (or whatever material is used to build them)?
Why can't conventional weapons hurt them or defeat them?

Yea. NGNL sold a good amount.

I wonder if it sold well because of the blinding red shading, or in spite of it.

I don't think that was a "finale" for Gate. It's just a place where the anime now goes into pause so that hopefully more material comes out and will be ready into the next season, which probably is about a year or so away.
Charlotte - this episode could be the end. If there's a 13th episode, I see how they could wrap it all up but it would be a cop out. Think "... time passes... " then the story picks up again much later.

It's split cour. The 2nd half resumes Winter 2016 which is january. There's already a lot of material available

GATE is a 2 cour, the 2nd one airs January I think. There are a fair amount of novels out already I think so it might be due to getting a head start production wise on the season. It definitely wasn't meant to be a finale since they haven't resolved anything with that Dark Elf.

Waiting for Gate is acceptable so long as Owarimonogatari is immediately available the day it airs and dammit why aren't my normal sources telling me they will have it or do I have to watch it on Daisuke like Hanamonogatari...

This is gold, lol.

Most probabaly it sold because of loli fanservice and pseudo-genius MC. People love that stuff.
As for the red outlines: I didn't really notice it. I was more concerned with the art style in general. The screaming colors, mostly red, yellow and pink tones, really hurt my eyes.

Yep, NGNL was fun, but it had many things that were questionable. Some people really like it though, so I guess it did something right. For me it was so-so, maybe a 6.5 or 7 out of 10.
