I wonder how much of your actually stems from being a native english speaker instead of being a native japanese speaker. I also think you are wrong about "every anime dub in existence is shit". The ghibli movie ones for example are really good. I prefer them over the sub. But you may want to hate-rant about them, too, so go ahead. | ||

Dubs that are good need actual voice actors that are passionate about their jobs. A-list actors who try to put emotion into their works for instance in many or some disney/pixar/w/e animated films do an amazing job. But you're not getting that kind of quality, or even a fraction of that quality in an anime dub 99% of the time. If I think I can do a better job with no voice acting experience than the dub, that's a bad, bad thing. And I have a shit voice with no natural talent for it. But I'm pretty sure I can do a better job than a super high % of male... and hell probably female VA's on these anime. | ||

But those are the few examples where you actually have a base of people who are all trying to get the job, who are all trying to be good at it and thus you end up with some kind of competition and decent VAs because the movie/show is actually considered to be something "decent" and probably pays decently as well. Anime VAs that aren't japanese just don't have that I'd assume. Who gives a fuck about a "kids show" like that that's going to be aired 3am on some channel noone even knows about. Of course it's going to sound just like cheap porn if it's treated like that. And yes, there might be some rare exceptions inbetween as well but even if that's the case, you just don't have the same quality that comes from hundres of people trying to get the same job and actually giving their best because the competition is just that harsh. | ||

I don't really care about the whole dub vs sub thing. Think you watching an inferior product but meh you can do what you want. I do get pissed at people that go push dubs out of the blue just because they can when the conversation/discussion has nothing to do with it. | ||
