You should watch s1 first. No point in watching s2 if you didn't.
It's not that all bad anyways. For me there were like 4-5 episodes that almost made me fall asleep and there were episode that i laughed my butt of.

I heard s1 was mediocre and afterstory was amazing so I watched s1.
anddd after I finished it I couldn't find the motivation to watch the sequel because the first one bored me so much
tbf I think it's partly because I found nagisa and tomoya to be utterly banal characters.
I adored the tomoyo arc tho

I haven't watched Clannad, it's still on my list but just seems weird how earlier we talking about Death note being overhyped due to only having a strong start but Clannad is being talked about for having a strong end.

+ Show Spoiler [Shigatsu ep7] +Felt more like a set up episode for the next one. I hoped the competition would already start in this episode. It's ok though. I was glad there weren't so many stupid comedy moments in this episode. There were only like 1-2 moments they destroyed the established mood. I like that Kaori is finally acting more feeling towards Arima. Still went rampant a bit but that scene where she showed him his number was kind of sweet.

Clannad S1 gets too much hate imo. It wasn't anywhere near After Story in terms of greatness but it was solid, just probably a bit boring at times for some people.

This right here. I actually think Clannad was pretty good. But it gets so much flak b/c After Story is just so much better. I would like to add that I don't think After Story would be close to as good as it is without Clannad.

Strangely enough I actually liked Clannad VN over animu. I think while my enjoyment of Clannad waned over time, my enjoyment of the VN did not. I am not 100% sure why this is the case.
