Basically, shoujo is a meta-genre, which by definition tells you more about the general approach and describes certain type of characters, situations and artistic/storytelling techniques better than every other possible classification, that's why it largely used worldwide (att least I can thank marketing for that, yay). To get the better of both worlds, they are used together. For example, Kemonozume is Seinen Horror Psychedelic (Experimental), not that Action Romance Drama Comedy Fantasy Artsy bullshit from the reddit list. | ||
