At first I thought, "How can anyone not pick Azusa?"
After thinking a bit, I changed my opinion to "How can anyone pick Mugi?" wtf

I could understand someone voting for non-hairband Ritsu... But I voted Mio anyway.
Watching SYD is 10x more hilarious imagining Shino as super-corrupted Mio.

No idea why Ricchan isn't getting any love, she's clearly best after Mio

mugi is best girl cuz piano is the best instrument
come at me you pleb-instrument loving degenerates

Just finished Kimikiss Pure Rouge. Interesting setup, though middle of the series was kinda boring. I liked it anyway; if I can forgive Chihayafuru's main character coating every single object depicted in the series with tears I can deal with an entire cast blushing and stammering nonstop for 8 episodes.
I've also played/watched a few routes in the School Days VN:
+ Show Spoiler [wall of text, minor spoilers] +Though I haven't gotten any of the crazy endings people hint at, there's enough interesting stuff going on here that I'm not bored yet. Unlike a lot of VNs I've read, the choices throw you into very different paths. In my first playthrough, one of the characters had 3 lines and moved away halfway through the story. In my second, she stepped in as a major character.
This VN does a pretty good job setting up a weird/creepy vibe.Reminded me a couple of times of Madoka Magica. In a few scenes, one girl or the other would do something so slightly out of character that it would have seemed normal... if I hadn't already learned a lot about them. Kotonoha in particular has done some innocuous things that made me think "she's totally batshit insane." That kind of subtlety is one of the reasons I like Japanese storytelling.
The sex scenes are even worse than usual because they're hard to skip, but I was extraordinarily happy to see sex that wasn't just thrown in as fanservice or as a reward mechanism. At one point there was a dialog choice during a sex scene that not only made sense contextually but actually influenced the story. This marks the first time I've felt that explicit sexual content actually performed a function and should not have been replaced with a simple implication - > transition. Actually, if there are any other examples of useful/effective sexual content in VNs, I'd be interested to know where. Almost all the time they feel (extremely) forced.
I think I'm going to dive into Higurashi no Naku Koro ni here soon. Should I go with VN or anime? I assume the VNs are a better bet, but that's not always the case. I actually liked the Steins;Gate anime better than the VN (at least the one playthrough I did, but maybe that's because the confusing "email response" gameplay mechanics led me to a relatively dull Amane ending.)

As for SG. The choices are not that confusing at all, they're fairly straightforward. Only a few choices really make a difference. The rest are just for flavor. Important choices are only "time leap or not" or "send dmail or not". Also, it's easy to redo it since you should be saving at every major choices anyways.

The Higurashi anime is absolutely terrible. I've actually recently been put on a "Higrashi anime is terrible" spree again, since I tortured myself to finish Higurashi Kai. So that pain and suffering from being lied to by so many people is still fresh in my memory. Anyway, go with the VN. It is infinitely better. If you can't stand the original art for Higurashi (because it is indeed bad), PM me and I'll see if I can hook you up with the PS2 patch that makes things look better.

Guess I'll try the SG VN again, thanks for the tip. I feel kind of dumb, but I can excuse myself by saying that looking at the characters' eyes made me dizzy.

Thanks for the advice. I've already replaced the sprites with the PS2 versions and they are so much better! Apparently there was a grammar/spelling patch floating around but I couldn't find any live links. Worrisome, but my wincing muscles are strong; I'll live.
