00 will only make sense if you watch both seasons, the first one doesn't really end or explain anything at all. And they're both only 25 Eps each, so it will be just like watching a regular 50 ep season
The movie is ok'ish .. love the evolution of their Gundams, and it offers a little more insight into Aeolia Schenberg. But it's not a must see
//addit SEED Destiny is pretty much a "clone" of SEED. So if you like one, you'll like the other and vice versa
|
You missed 0080 0083 F91
Seed Destiny is not a good series, but it is a rather entertaining series, especially if you like seeing Jesus Yamato blowing shit up (but conveniently not killing anyone).

Somehow I don't think one of the worst gundam is a clone of one of the best >.<

You could argue most anime is otaku pandering since it's only those who actually buy the things. Utaprince is like twilight in that for the most part it's unenjoyable for everyone except for a certain type of person. I'm hoping that since they're not showing any love interest in the posters and from what we've seen it won't be too bad . But if it turns into masturbation material for fujoshi I'll be upset. At least there's that other kyoani animation being made, I can't remember the name at the moment though. Anyone know what I'm talking about? The LN.
....How many shows DO NOT have those already?
Unless of course the only shows you watch are exclusively girls....in which a lot of it could lead to yuri material as opposed to yaoi?

Sent groups the second season with Destiny in his gundam guide. Kind of makes me doubt watching it. If the ending of the first season doesn't mean anything without the second season, I guess it's either watch both season or none at all. Is it worth it to watch both, then? I guess I'll check out Victory too.

Not terribly interested in 0080 due to it following a civilian, but I'll consider the other two.
As for Destiny, from Sent's blog I got the impression that it ruins SEED characters and ending, I'm not terribly interested in having characters ruined.
Now that I think of it I should probably watch Gundam X too, it's just that it got cancelled which made me doubt watching it a little bit (because of rushed ending as a result).

Oh come on here, Destiny is basically a SEED from the other side's POV

I definately recommend it. My favorite Gundam spinoff so far

The ending actually is fine for X
0080 has more suffering than most Gundam despite following a civilian (and it's not really following a civilian, it's just from the PoV of a civilian) for you Swedes though
00 has some cool mechas, that's about it.

Well, 00 S2 was terrible... and the movie of it was even worse, but... idk. I just thought the first 13ish episodes of 00 were really good. Then it went downhill after some new characters came in and the plot stopped making sense, and you could see them attempt to recreate a Destiny-like plot?premise?character in preparation for 00 S2.

It's true 00 S2 is pretty bad, but unlike SEED, just watching S1 would be kinda weird due to lack of any real closure. If you just want fun gundam action, go for it. Anyway, I plan to start streaming SEED HD once I get back from my weekend trip so maybe Sunday night or Monday.

Animation in 00 and 00 S2 was really good. Although later it just turned into more particle spam.

Well, fujoshi spend a lot of money too when things appeal to them. Also, you're mixing terms a little bit - typically, fujoshi want BL (yaoi) so if there's no female love interests in the series that's perfect pandering to them. Utapuri is more like otome game stuff, which is the equivalent of trashy harem shows with 9 girls + 1 (often portrayed as unlucky despite having girls trip all over him all the time) male protagonist except for girls. Or, yes, comparable to Twilight. Which is wish fulfillment for girls, just like harem anime are wish fulfillment for boys.
You shouldn't be upset either way though, it's not like you have to watch it.

It's a mystery.

....How many shows DO NOT have those already?
Unless of course the only shows you watch are exclusively girls....in which a lot of it could lead to yuri material as opposed to yaoi? Most the time it's just people with an overactive imagination. I mean you can find doujins of anything now. The problem with fujoshi shows is that the main attraction to watching the anime is just the men and fanservice. It'd be like if every straight anime was like Vividred. They're just really bad shows and sell based off people fantasizing about the characters.
As far as yuri goes, there's not too many shows where the only reason to watch is because they're all gay. Like Hidamari Sketch has a main cast of 6 girls who are most likely gay, but that isn't why it sells. Even shows like Yuru Yuri are mostly about the comedy. But the fujoshi shows sell literally because they fantasize about the men, and it just makes the show terrible most the time since the producers know it's going to sell off this alone.
Like Utaprince does have a few jokes scattered about, but the rest is just really bad and I couldn't get into it at all.
Edit: Broke the quotes
And I wouldn't say all harem is just "wish fulfillment" for boys. Stuff like Photo Kano is, but that isn't selling so we're alright there. Haganai sold because of comedy mostly, Oreimo (would you call this a harem? I mean, it is right?) is comedy again. The stuff that sells for this sort of harem usually has something else driving it, whereas fujoshi literally only like the boys.

Otaku pandering = Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai

Okay, so F91, Gundam X, Victory and Stardust memory are all added to my plan to watch list, and all of 00 (minus movie, I'm still not interested in that one) is now in the zone of doubt, lol.

I'd say Lucky Star is otaku pandering, mostly because it is a show that relies on people knowing the references and things more than anything else.

I guess I just associate otaku pandering with fan service in general, so Haganai definitely would be otaku pandering in my eyes. The terms just feels like "fanservice in anime" to me as opposed to some arbitrary definition.

I think most people (read: males) would be able to watch Haganai though without feeling like a weeaboo. Heck, I've suggested it to friends before who haven't really seen much anime and they enjoyed it.
Trying to think of other ways to define it really. Like most people who like Nanoha and other mahou shoujo tend to be pretty high up on my otaku rankings, even if the show itself isn't heavily based on otaku likes (except for young girls casting magic).
I can't really think of anything better so I'm just going to end it with fujoshi are killing anime and I seriously hope KyoAni don't have too much manservice
|
'Fujoshi are killing anime' is the silliest thing I've ever heard since anybody buying anime is literally saving the niche market, but if you were to phrase it like 'pandering to fujoshi is killing my interest in anime' that'd be acceptable. Even regurgitating tired harem formulas and filling your series with fanservice isn't killing the industry when people buy it.
If you want more shows like Fate/Zero or Madoka or Fullmetal Panic, buy them. (Probably import them because the studios take more notice of that, though it's understandably more expensive. At least the F/Z blurays come with English subs.)
I'll leave it here too though because it's probably not going to be a fulfilling discussion.

Watch G gundam too. And X. They are good. Destiny is a combination rehash/assassination of both SEED and Zeta. 00 s1 doesn't exactly resolve anything, but it does "end" prior to a time skip, so you can watch it and then pretend its meant to have a sequel thats never come out. Despite my distaste for 0080, it is overall pretty well regarded. 0083 and F91 are both worth a watch, although I think less of them than some people here.
