Is it better then fate/stay? Immeasurably. Fate/Stay was a decent anime (though people here will say it was not even that), but I think Fate/Zero can be comfortably placed in the top 5 animes of all time. Though I have a limited perspective (who hasn't, really), it just seems so much more fleshed out. The story and the characters can be enjoyed beyond having certain perversions, or being infatuated with the standard tropes of animes, yet it still manages to exploit all these traits of anime almost to perfection. It's fantastic, very few animes compare in my opinion, and certainly not Fate/Stay, which by comparison seems almost criminal in how much less exciting and engaging it is.

Is it better then fate/stay? Zero is better than FSN in my opinion. I think Zero should be close to what a "real" war for the Grail would be. Its pretty much as merciless as it can be, unlike FSN. But FSN, after watching Zero, is more like a tragedy in the way that the children are kind of forced into a war that their parents wanted.

F/SN may be a fine anime on its own. The problem is that it kind of butchered the incredible source (F/SN story is much more interesting and complex than F/Z IMHO) it's hard to judge it subjectively.

I even dropped FZ several times because how tedious it became. To say that it was more engaging than FSN is ridiculous. Special effects and 'mature' action doesn't make an anime complete. And to even remotely consider placing any of them as one of the best anime ever...

Everyday I feel like I have different preferences. For example, some days I cannot fucking stand Sword Art Online and just want to never watch it, while other days I'm just perfectly relaxed while watching it. Especially stuff like K-On too, I thought I would be the person who could never sit through 50 episodes of literally nothingness. But I actually watched all of it and enjoyed it. And sometimes I think to myself that it was awful and I would never watch it again, while other times I'm just like, aw yee K-on. Currently though, my favorite anime is Madoka Magica, since I love the fact that it's only 12 episodes long, I've watched that shit over and over quite a bit. (Although I didn't like how it ended too much :/ ) tl;dr : I'm weird as fuck about my anime tastes

Just had to let my FT fanboyism take place. Decided it was best not to discuss it here. Inb4 the manga readers come out. Edit 2: Okay but seriously. Going from that shitty Infinity Clock arc to the Tournament arc, FT just feels 100x better. Just everything in the main story arc is just fcking insane. They way they weave past arcs into the current arc is just mind blowingly fcking awesome. Just holy shit man, watching the OP, I spoiled myself with a lot of shit, but it also adds huge anticipation. I fcking fck dude. Im gonna kill myself waiting for new episodes weekly. gg, no fcking re man.
