Recently I've gotten into "futuristic" anime. With cool technology whether it be for military purposes or just everyday life purposes. I'm enjoying the Sword Art Online anime, and I've read the entire translated LN (some of it was pretty stupid, but it's actually the first LN I've ever read). I also checked out Accel world since it was by the same author and I liked that. I just watched Gurren Lagann(Was good but didn't really meet my expectations since a lot of people said it was a work of god or something) and Aquarion Evol (Still don't know how I feel about this one, although it looked really nice with its awesome artwork).
My mind is set on .Hack//Sign now, but it would be nice if I could get other recommendations as well. (Yes I've looked at almost all of the Anime on the recommendation list and most of them didn't interest me)
Infinite Stratos
Rinne no Lagrange

I've seen fmp, i'll check out last exile later xP
I've also seen Infinite Stratos (well I stopped watching after ep3 because the harem stuff is way too awkward due to the girls being too weird), I'll check out Rinne no Lagrange later though xP

Ghost in the Shell is futuristic. I just started watching it again since I got the DVDs on the cheap, and it's a lot better than I remember.

Just make sure you get the old one and pretend the sequel doesn't exist.
Fractale is decent though a bit weird Moretsu Uchuu Kaizoku is better than expected, but it's pretty light hearted
Coyote Ragtime Show is pretty mediocre but it have amazing moments.
Utawarerumono is good, and have a few great songs (Towa Ni, Kimi Ga Tame)
Mnemosyne OVA is a good choice if you want hear Noto Mamiko making embarrassing sounds (it's uncensored though).

I've already seen eva. Only the series though. Are the movies sort of a recap, or actual new material? Also votoms is pretty dated (1984) @_@ If you want Mecha, first place to look (duh) is Gundam Unicorn. I also recommend Gundam 00, at least the first season. Also, I seem to remember way back when, there was a poll on which mecha unit was the sexiest (don't think it was quite agreed on wether 'sexiest' meant 'makes-me-want-to-fuck-it-the-most' or 'makes-me-want-to-wear-it-the-most')? Going by the second definition, I'd like to nominate Exia from 00! Gorgeous design, coolest weapon, easy choice. If that's not enough sex appeal though, there are some quite cute girls in the command center xD + Show Spoiler + Good kid and his amazing machine/strongest representation of his personality (lookatdatomg) ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/vnYtJ.jpg) Gundam 00 team, proving they are true anime characters by striking a badass pose ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/YBBZm.jpg) Cute girls helping out Why would you say Exia is the "sexiest" gundam ever, and then post pictures of the 00? The 00 Gundam is an entirely different suit lol My memory must be fucked up O_O That blue suit isn't called Exia? If would be like saying you like Strike and then linking Freedom. Sorry what? I updated my last post btw Strike and Freedom were Gundams in Gundam SEED. Like Exia and the 00, the Strike was Kira's initial Gundam (like Exia to Setsuna), and the Freedom was his upgrade (like the 00).
Makes sense! I did not remember the upgrade getting a new name (shit gets upgraded all the time in these shows, though I suppose they also get new names all the time, I just don't care to notice I suppose). I just remember saying "Exia. Setsuna F. Seiei" to myself alittle too often at the time XD ALSO, I seem to remember Exia/00 in season 1 fighting with two swords + Show Spoiler + can be seen at the end here I think? Goes by fast, maybe I just wanted it to be two swords instead of a sword and shield. Btw favorite OP I've seen so far, though it's tied with the 'to the beginning' OP for Fate/Zero , which is the part that puts it over the top.
Sorry for any confusion, though I'm probably the only one getting confused by all this stuff!

Try Code Geass. Its an anime with sort of Death note characteristics, but lots of mecha and gundam-like battles. \ Its full of strategic insight. You should check it out.

Watched Code Geass a long time ago..... It was okay, but not memorable. Way too dramatic for my tastes "OMFG IT'S ZERO HE'S MAKING A MIRACLE!" Edit: Same for death note. A solid minute of a guy writing into a notebook with epic dramatic music....... and then I was like..... "wtf? is this the best anime of all time?" since people were telling me it was when I first started watching anime a couple years ago rofl.

So much deep philosophy about manhood, mankind, and war, it was almost like an Evangelion version of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The story arc with Euphie was tragic, reminding me of Titus Andronicus, and was both touching and exciting, making me wish things had taken that turn much earlier. Alas, that's the only qualm I had with CG, which is that it delayed some of the best moments until too late into the season, forcing you to watch R2, which was a very Gundam-esque move. That was around when we should have realized that their lead writer was assassinated and replaced by Char Aznable.

Obvious excuse but busy week at work that's forced me to wake up early than normal -> sleeping schedule I'm not used to + lots writing -> get home in meh mood to translate. Haven't really been in a gaming mood either, honestly have been mucking about and then sleeping of late (until tonight) x_x

Just out of curiosity (kinda relevant to this and other posts): Are there any animes out there that focus on strategy and tactics to the same extent as LoGH? I always hear about these animes supposedly about geniuses outwitting eachother, but they always use lame tricks to cheat the audience, instead of knuckling down and actually churn out some good writing, with dialogue and schemes that seem like they come from geniuses. Is it all just characteristics (ie. main character is a genius within the universe) or are there actually some geniuses out there? I mean LoGH came the closest, but they did cheat a bit by utilizing actual history, which is obviously far and away a better choice than just coming up with these lame deus ex machinas, but cheating nonetheless.

2 questions though. 1) do I need to watch Genesis of Aquarion before it 2) Am I wasting my time? You dont need to watch the first season. I ended up rewatching some eps today coincidentally. It has great animation, a kick ass soundtrack, and likeable characters. If you feel like watching it then just go with it. You should be able to figure out yourself if you like it or not by the first ep. Edit: Maxie, nothing is wrong with the power of love! Finished it...... + Show Spoiler +god damnit, that has got to be the stupidest ending I've ever seen.
Aquarion Love?! wtf is that shit, and it cried enough to fill the worlds with water. My head still hurts
Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Maybe cause you didn't know what actually happened - or just don't appreciate anime in general.
On another note, just started watching K-On. Asif I never watched this before even though I knew it was pretty big for the otakus... I can see why.
Pretty good LOL.
