If you come in here looking for "anime recommendations" then please refer to this chart before posting: Anime Recommendations (as of may 2014). We also have an IRC channel called #tladt where we all hang out. The channel is on Rizon, not QuakeNet! Feel free to check it out. I think most people here go through new anime every season when they come out, so rarely need to find a series to watch. And at some point, I ventured outside of the Gundam universe, and found Death note, followed by Full metal alchemist. That's probably when I realized there were good animes outside of Gundam Recently watched Fate + Angels Beats, and really enjoyed them. I'm probably looking for something similar ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/FO3v7.png) Its a pretty good resource. Mal and ANN will give you more headaches if you dont watch to much.
Yea, that's where I first found Death Note. I actually tried some mecha from the chart : Neon Evangelion, Eureka 7, code Geas. (I've never completed any of them) but I didn't get into them. Maybe its because I'm bored of the mecha, dunno. Also saw Ghost in the shell, again it was decent but that's it.
Eventually I found FMAB (I thought it was from that list, guess I've found it somewhere else, not sure. Enjoyed it alot.
After Death note, I started posting in this forum asking for some recommendations Somehow got recommended DXD highschool. Found the show decent, but lacking. And then got recommended Hidan no aria and OmamorI Himari. Hidan was half-decent, Omamori was horrible. Both are similar to DxD highschool, so the people who recommended are not to. blame! Also got recommended Rosario vampire... again not my type. Too light-hearted, keep repeating itself, not serious. The concept is interesting, but they aren't exploring the part that would be interesting (IMO), the monster part. It's always naive guy who loves cute girls.
Meanwhile, I also found Guilty Crown (could it be from TL 2011 chart? I don't remember), after 2 episodes, dropped it. From memory, it was visually interesting but never got into the story. That's also when I discovered two animes based on video games : Valkyria Chronicles and Xenosaga. Decided to check them. Well they were good (because I loved the games). Not sure if they are considered good animes though. I'm planning on watching some of the Tales anime when I get time (because I do like these games)
Somehow, I got into Fate/Zero, I think it was the anime chart (not the recommendation, but the other one) Not too sure where and when. Its definitely on TL. Then I was so amazed by the anime that I posted here. And someone suggested looking at the original Stay night, which I did! Also checked the movie UBW
And finally, yesterday, as I was searching for an anime, I found Angel Beats, and loved it.
Yea, that's basically my story ^^ I think my experience with the chart is not very good. Which is probably why I prefer to ask
ps : I should probably add to the list of stuff I've seen : Dragon Ball, Pokemon and Naruto. But I never enjoyed any of these 3 shows.

GC has never been on that chart. I dont believe anyone would be insane enough to do that.
If you came in looking for Ecchi shows then people probably recommended Ecchi shows, Pretty sure there would be disclaimers that it would be lots of panty flashing and tits involved, and the usual spineless MC.
The chart is still more solid for recs in most genres.
Also I dont see how one bad anime outside of a genre you already dont want (mecha) (and anime that was never on the chart) can make it a bad experience.

MAL = http://myanimelist.net/ reviews there are more useful than other places though still alot of troll reviews.
ANN = http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ the suggestion is only thing I like there really, reviews are generally pretty bad.
First thing I can think of is Full Metal Panic (original, Fumoffu, the second raid), a mech anime that rate very highly by almost everyone. original and TSR are main stories and Fumoffu is all about funny side stories.
If you want get into some older stuff, the 08th MS team, or Gundam 0080. Those two are best early gundams IMOH and they don't requires you to watch other stuff (as compared to all the Char ones).
Gundam Seed is good, Seed Destiny is NOT good (but you might want try that anyway if you enjoy Seed).
Last Exile is REALLY good steam punk anime with plenty of aerial battle action. There is a sequel, but you are better off pretending it doesn't exist.
Kara no Kyoukai movie you should definitely watch. They are written by Nasu Kinoko, who wrote F/SN (and Tsukihime), but Fate / Zero is written by Urobuchi Gen, who also wrote Puella Magi Madoka Magica which you might want check out (be warned his works tends to be highly disturbing, F/Z is probably the most tame of his work). KnK is made by Ufotable (same as F/Z) but with full movie budget for each.
If you enjoyed Angel Beats, you might want check out Air / Kanon / Clannad and upcoming Little Buster, all of which written by Maeda Jun and in the similar style. Kanon make sure you get the 06 version by KyoAni and not the earlier Toei one
If you just want try some good ones that's not really similar to the ones you listed and see anything works, Serial Experiments Lain, Dennou Coil, Noir, Gunslinger Girls, Haibane Renmei, Aria, Honey & Clover, Maria-sama ga Miteru, Gungrave, Trigun, Buccano, Cross Game, Nana, Katanagatari, Kaleido Star, Mushishi all worth check out.

Thanks for the recommendations! Seen most of the gundam, waiting for the next episode of Unicorn.
I'm actually leaning for Gunslinger Girls. Read the review + synopsis (is this the correct term?) and think it has good potential.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica : is this the same as Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica ? When I looked it up, that's what showed in my results. I'll check the KnK movie when I can get it
About the comment on ecchi : I enjoyed DxD because of the demon + good universe behind. My biggest complaint was that it was too thin. So when I asked for some recommendations, I guess I got more ecchi -.- In general, I like the theme good vs bad (cliché, yea). I LOVE it when its grey vs grey (for example, Fate : its not just good guys vs bad guys, each master has reasons to acquire the Grail. Sure Caster+master were evil, and some others maybe too Kirei+archer, but I could feel sympathy for the others, and didn't cheer for one over the others. In fact, even the guy with Berserker was likeable because he wanted to save Sakura!) Probably that something along the line of Angel vs Demon, or Good vs Bad, but enough grey in between the war would be my taste
ps : Why I loved Death Note. Sure, Light was evil, but it was a "good evil", or an evil that took birth from a somewhat good idea (getting rid of criminals). Oh and second part of Death Note was really bad (the moment N made his appearance). I personally think the serie would have been better with Light winning it all but ending miserably because of power abuse that backfire.

FMP / Last Exile / KnK are must watch in my (biased) opinion Air / Noir / Mushishi / Buccano / Gunslinger Girls / Haibane Renmei / H&C are a tier below that you love them if you like that style of anime, but probably not as much otherwise Rest are more debatable

Mecha is a really diverse genre, so if you are looking for something similar to Gundam, watching something like Evangelion probably won't work. Also, Code Geass is fairly similar to Death Note, if you liked that show (although I'm not a fan of them). Also, when you say you have watched most Gundams, does that include Zeta Gundam and Turn A Gundam? If not, you should check those out. Honestly not many people have watched those two in the West, and they are some of the best Gundam shows in the entire franchise.

u should check out the visual novel of fate if u liked the anime and movie its really gd miles better than the either of them and it tells the story proper through 3 routes instead of the jumbled mess that is fate stay night

I'm actually liking Accel World nowadays... guess I got used to Haru's whimpyness (or he got ever so slightly better, I dunno really). Weird.
And yeah, if you've watched Fate/Zero, play the VN, the last route is the one that ties in the most with F/Z.

Watched about 6 eps of Soul Eater last night... It was so good... I couldnt stop myself, each ep ended before I knew it. Saving these last couple eps is gonna be really hard =/

I've watched about 3 episodes, I find it mildly interesting (I like 2 of the couples/teams but dislike the 3rd), but I've heard the ending is beyond terrible so I've dropped it for now. Come back after you've finished it and tell me if I should watch it anyway.

Anime ending is totally original so to be expected. The manga is nearing end.

These aptly-named gecko-ends are rarely (read: never) good. The upside its that it actually ends instead of dragging forever so you can finish it and get on with life, instead of get bored after episode 127 in filler arc #17 and never touch it again.

Soul Eater atm is going very strong, Im at the 35ish episode mark. Only about 15eps left for me. I dont really care much if the ending turns out to be crap. What I care about now is how well the characters are developing and how the plot unfolds. Right now its fcking intense!

Oh you will care, even you.

Just turn off your brain, as always people here exaggerate bad things imo =/ sure it was bad but it didn't ruin the rest of the good show for me

Well, at least there were explosions.

At least they are not like mangas getting cut. Those endings are the worst.

Damn I just finished watching Welcome to the NHK and it made me quite depressed T.T I'm not even like Satou but the whole "life is 90% pain and 10% fun" thing and just the general theme with all the characters having such issues made me quite sad
Also I heard that the manga was quite different, I decided to go and speedrun the manga today after watching all the anime episodes yesterday(probably why I feel so sad about it, I watched all 24 episodes from 4pm to 2am XD) and Jesus Christ Misaki is such a bitch in the manga when compared to her complete innocence in the anime!
