On top of that they only sub stuff worth watching. http://utw.me/#

Although I do agree after Vol.5 it gets pretty... lame by the amount of game hopping. However, from Vol 1 - 4, plus the side stories - it gets really good. People complaining about the side stories in the anime, if they didn't make any - you would see MASSIVE gaps in the story line/flash backs, character growth/dev etc etc. It's really necessary for them to do the side stories first before they get onto the main story line.

Did you just call + Show Spoiler [SAO LNs] + ALO Like, vol 1 was basically the best SAO vol for a while, that seems to get along fine. They should've either waited for Progressive to get written or be smarted and blow a 15+ episodes + Show Spoiler [SAO LNs] + vol 1, 2 and 8 Also, other than Aria and the story to get aired this week, these side stories are really weak development wise. On August 04 2012 15:09 Seiferz wrote: I heard SAO is going through the side stories? How long do you think this will take? I read most of the novels and all I really wanna see are the action scenes and the lightsaber. You won't see them sabers this season. On August 04 2012 14:57 Zhasona wrote: Actually, it might have been better if we don't call it SAO and instead call it + Show Spoiler + "Kirito and his MMORPG adventures". That would have been a better name considering how the later parts of the novels proceed. Furthermore, another weakness in Kawahara's writing is that any side characters he introduced are basically used and thrown and forgotten. In the SAO novels, all the girls are generally forgotten until their arc/until Calibur arc. In AW, Taku and Chiyu basically are more like cameo characters instead of side characters in favor of the old members of Nega Nebula in the later novels. In regards to Kirito vs Haru, I would rather read a story of someone who has more chance of character growth over someone who's nearing the status of jesus. And Haru does get more badass in the later arcs(Though with the help of some equipment). Haru has about as much actual character growth as Shinji Ikari. While Kawahara blows at retconing, Kirito has by far more interesting things slapped onto him than Haru. As for point about girls, well, see Alicization. I've always maintained that + Show Spoiler [SAO LN] + we are better off skipping ALO and GGO, writing wise and skip from SAO to Alicization with 1~2 vols of transition. If you have to have a harem, fine, then use short stories for that. Calibur isn't an arc anyway, it is just one slightly bigger short story. I mean, I feel like he recognizes the weakness of Asuna as a character instead of a dutchwife, thus he retcons up Aria and Rondo and has Progressive in the works. That and Mother's Rosario 'arc' (or really, medium story, hue). It also shows in Alicization with how he approached Alice there. But either way, Suguha/Cecilica/what's-her-name-blacksmith were basically all throwaway characters and Shino is just someone who Kirito can cheat on Asuna with before Alice comes along, real zz and waste of time vols 2~8 are. On August 04 2012 17:23 essencez wrote: Kirito did it because + Show Spoiler + to rescue his e-girlfriend! Without the side stories then the mainstory could end in two eps. + Show Spoiler + Basically the first volume (entire storyline of SAO) is made up of Kirito gets trapped in game -> tries out virtual sex -> finds the GM is trolling them. The end. In comparison to Accel World, you can tell the similarities between the two MCs with the exception that one is badass the other is cringe worthy. lol I hate on SAO a fair bit and even I wouldn't describe vol 1 that way. There are quite a bit of little things here and there, just that they aren't fleshed out nearly as much as they should be. + Show Spoiler [SAO] + Then the worst part is that shit continues into nonsense until Alicization On August 04 2012 13:41 Sentenal wrote: One has pig MC and the other has MMO Jesus. After reading 5 volumes of SAO, I like Accel World more, cuz mecha avatars pew pew. Also, no Sugou. Btw I used my 5k post to make a blog here, in case anyone is interested in gunpla and stuff: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=358094 I'll say it again Sent, not everyone can fap to mecha strapped on a pig. On August 04 2012 10:11 biology]major wrote: saw the first episode and thought it was cool. + Show Spoiler + Then the next 3 drift little by little from the main story. Basically skipped through the 4rth because they lost me at that point, and if they continue this trend of 1 set of characters every episode then bleh The alternative is that they put effort into adaptation instead of just throwing the exact same thing as the LN into anime. I guess that's just too much to ask for, look at Sunrise and the butchery of Horizon. On August 04 2012 10:25 Maxie wrote: Well, in ep3 I recognized the + Show Spoiler + "it's a trap!" Well, the comedy was a pretty big part of the anime for me, but I liked the other half of it as well. Main complaint I had personally with it ending was that I'm a sucker for romance so I wanted more of that, haha. For some reason I really liked that haircutting scene or what it was. Oh well, better start reading now that I'm on the correct volume... ep3, the story of Hayami Saori typecast and how shitty pacing is when you throw out all the emo in a story that's supposed to be about emo. The key thing with FMP is how author played his hand really well. The comedic potential is concentrated in short stories and used sparcely in main story. Character development kept to main story and side stories kept to small revelations for the most part other than the one big Weber story. The romance is also not too heavyhanded and we are spared of the feel of a harem even though everyone has the hots for Sousuke other than Oren. To whoever that said Kuroyukihime and Kirito in the same world, well, for one. Asuna is a better dutchwife. Secondly, there is a crossover. + Show Spoiler [SAO/AW LNs] + Third, they should be in the same world, albeit with SAO around 20 years before AW

Oh I finished the whole thing using web novel releases lol. It depends on how you want to look at Alicization, I guess. It was quite entertaining and I can certainly see what people mean when they say that it recaptured the intensity of vol 1. + Show Spoiler + Alicization is written with the lessons from Aincrad in mind I guess. A long story is given the time that it is supposed to get, so a good 5~6 vols worth of action and a lot of development, but it isn't without its share of problems. One problem is that the weakness of characters from the early parts of SAO really shows. Alicization is supposed to be the end of the series (I think), so naturally they try to get all the characters involved...and the short story pair, Suguha and ALO characters are all pretty damned weak in comparison to characters from Alicization. Shinon held out pretty well but that's mostly because from GGO and on they devote a shit ton of time to her. Asuna lucked out that author remembered that this is supposed to be a story about Asuna and Kirito so last minute insertion of development in vol 7 and 8 made her not obsolete in Alicization. Even Heathcliff's girlfriend performed better than the weak bunch of characters though, which is kinda sad. Another is that the combat got a bit too 中二 and went down some shounen roads. It took the logical extension from the way the series focused on the will of man beating the system and then take it to the extreme, then threw a bit more silly shit at it. I mean, it works out to be rather hot blood development after a fashion, but it can also hurt a bit to read. Goosebumps in both the good and the bad sense, I don't really want to think about how the distribution works though. Still, it isn't quite so bad that you can't turn off your brain to enjoy it, unlike a lot of ALO, GGO and Accel World. Oh also, his bad habits with throwaway characters is still there, a fair amount of those in Alicization. Unfortunately some of them are actually pretty interesting, wished they could've gotten more attention. If you can overlook the problems though, Alicization is actually quite good. Good enough for me to be interested in the rewrite of SAO that is Progressive, because if he can keep up the quality then there is quite a lot of potential for that. I feel like the web version really could've benefited from getting edited by professionals though, so I can't really say how it'll turn out in the end - after all, the web novels did give us the infamous chapter 16.5 in Aincrad.

Good episode imo. Wonder what he(it?) will come up with if the body swapping actually is over. Edit: It's funny how recognizing voices makes things weird for me sometimes. I just noticed that Lancer (F/SN) is voiced by the same guy who voices Masato (Little Busters) and that Lancer (F/Z) is voiced by the same guy who does Kyousuke (Little Busters). Random observations ftw, I guess...

Kokoro Connect: + Show Spoiler + Its much deeper than it looks! I am curious to see if Iori purposely gave Inaba the kiss. After all if it was just symbolic meaning she could have just done it in Aoki's body. Recognizing voices only is weird when you stumble upon a popular/favourite seiyu's more intimate works... unexpectedly. Recently I've caught up on a lot of sport themed series namely Ryu-Kyu-Bu and Saki can someone list me some of better series?
