The name itself seemed rather weird to me, so I had no idea how to approach it, but eventually I felt I just had to see what it was about. After seeing some pictures I watched the first two episodes of MLA:TE. It got me really intrigued with the whole last stand of humanity thing and the latter part of the 2nd episode was especially gripping.
Fast forward a week and I decide to give the VN novel a shot. While I had heard about it, I had absolutely no idea about the plot, I knew I had to start with the Extra, even though I wanted to get to the mecha vs aliens part asap.
At first it seemed pretty "meh", but eventually it became really fun. The story itself wasn't that great and at parts really cheesy, but the comedy was really good. Not gonna go over that in detail, but the highlight for me probably is the Mitsurugi family driver. I thought I would die from laughter when I saw Ichimonji - it was like several Initial D characters were fused into one and to top it all off he drives a freaking 60 meter limousine. The "cornering" during the race vs Yuuko-sensei was just LOL.
So after finishing the main route and speed reading the side routes to get a feel for other characters, I went onto Unlimited. Sadly it had a single route with the only differences being which heroine you end up with. That aside, I thought it was really interesting with all the explanation about humanity’s situation and the BETA, some solid character development here and there and still quite a bit of comedy. Kasumi is so adorable: “Agaaaa~” I liked the part where everyone finds out Takeru has awesome piloting skills. However, it was only when I read “The Day After” that I found how horrible the ending of Unlimited was and what Alternative V really caused. More on that later.
I wanted to immediately play/read MLA right after. However, much to my dismay I remember something bad. Really bad. Way back when reading the ADT, I stumbled across a video titled “CHOMP.” I clearly remembered the “CHOMP”, but on who it was “performed” on I had forgotten. I thought to myself, or rather, I hoped that it was not part of MLA.
So I was really into right from the start. The opening really pumped me up and the title screen set an epic tone. I read it and was like “Woah, he remembers stuff now, I wonder where this is heading.” Takeru’s delusion of being a super soldier had finally come true and I really wanted to see how it’s going to affect the coming events. While the beginning was basically a repeat of what we already know, it was still really fun to see how Takeru deals with it again. The new XM3 plot was pretty good too. While the story is like super serious this time around, there is still comedy to be found. The whole Squad Leader Tama ordeal was really funny. Ayamine even had additional lines with “Tama papa and hige.” Takeru kept learning life lessons, found new determination and in turn educated me, the reader. Some badass TSF battles here and there. Some pretty epic characters were introduced, such as Mikoto’s dad and Captain Sagiri(not sure how he went from childhood friend doctor to awesome so easily) and Yuuhi!! However this sense of dread I had I could not get rid off. Right after the events of 12-5, they graduated from the Eishi school and the XM3 trials came about. Everything seemed to be going well, Takeru got praise from 20 battle veterans etc. Then suddenly – BETA. The hypnotic suggestion was kinda creepy and cool at the same time. Takeru went nuts and was depressed right after. And the scene I saw right after, where he is sitting down – all the dots in my head connected that instant. I could see the “CHOMP” approaching. I decided I was done for the day and decided to sleep. However it was really bewildering. I knew what was gonna happen, but I didn’t know to who it would happen. Due to that I didn’t sleep too good and woke up really early, just to see what happens next. Bad choice. The event and the following parallel world stuff had to be some of the most depressing stuff I’ve experienced in a while. I kept at it and Takeru thankfully pulled himself together.
Then the A01 introduction, it was pretty fun to see old faces from both MLE and KgNE. At parts I felt there was too much self reflection going on in Takeru’s head to the point it got somewhat obnoxious. The Sadogashima operation was really good. I had the same reaction as the fleet commanders when I saw Susanoo go to town on that monument. The character that was in the purple Take-mikazuchi is pretty bad ass, despite the fact that I only found out about him in “The Day After.” However the way things were going and I could see the “everyone dies moment” from miles and miles away.
Then came time for the revelations about Sumika. How exactly did she reach that state? What happened to Takeru in this world? I kinda guessed that he probably died protecting Sumika from the BETA, but I didn’t think it was what caused the trauma for Takeru – turns out the kid was eaten by the Soldier Class. What followed next was…freaking tentacle porn. Sumika gets fondled by tentacles. Apparently BETA are proficient at breast enlargement procedures. Failed to see how this sort of scene or plot was needed.
So with all the crying and robot sex out of the way the story moves on. Everyone keeps dying left and right. And the part during Yokohama defense where poor Haruka goes splat against the control room window was just heart wrenching.
Apparently the writers reached nirvana and found a new level of friend zone. Poor Meiya got noble confidant’d.
Operation Ouka. Ugh. By the time this was over I felt really bad. The whole self-sacrifice vibe they had going on didn’t sit well with me. The conversation with “The Superior” had lots of interesting information and provided a minor distraction from all that happened previously. Turns out the whole unit had attained various super saiyan levels of the friend zone. After all that was over at least Kasumi was still there to heal my shattered soul. Various plot twists ensued and I was left with mixed feelings. However, the ending made me even sadder. Takeru forgot everything. HE. FORGOT. EVERYTHING. So freaking lame. At least the epilogue lightened my mood, which was basically a setup for MLAF. What I hope is that Takeru somehow remained in the other world, otherwise everything that happened would be pointless. But even without that it still is vastly superior as to what happens to Takeru before he loops. I bring you – emo takeru + Show Spoiler +
One look at his face made me depressed. His face reflects his mind and what’s going on in the post Alternative V world. Everyone is fucked, cause G-Bombs failed to destroy the BETA entirely, caused ocean inversion and BETA then had underwater hives, while the remaining people of Earth still went to war between themselves. The last of humanity (on Earth) got owned by Carriers. GG protoss imba.
I am thankful to the ADT and posters for suggesting this awesome VN. It was a great experience. I really liked the mecha designs too and the Take-mikazuchi is really pretty. :3
I think I covered everything I wanted to say.
Can’t wait for the MLA:TE VN~

kick in the balls (esp. how they switch back pretty quickly), and this:

More routes, more episodes!!! o/ At least, if done right.
That's a really big if. This also means Komari and Kud route all over again but animated. Sigh, well I will still look forward to animated original Little Busters + Anego, if nothing else. Also hope they animate battle minigames; can't be that hard to do well...right? At least Anego's machine guns. please? D:

Are you able to read Japanese, or did you just spoiler yourself with TDA stuff like what I've done?
I don't mind in the slightest that Takeru got to go back home, and that he lost the memories of what happened. Takeru has suffered enough. He did what he had to in Alternative, suffered and suffered and suffered, and then finally got free from it, and was able to live happily ever after. And then he was freed from the memories of the Hell that is Alternative's world too, and is able to literally go back to his care-free life. And he had earned it, IMO, lol
Wait...by the looks of it, they want to do all the routes. o_O

I still haven't touched Komari or Kud routes, but I have to say this: I fucking hate Komari. Don't know why, but she annoys me like hell.
Not really certain on how the routes work since I have played so little (just got to the first match, which they lost splendidly), but I'll probably go for Rin and Kurugaya before anyone else, hope those two are good. Kinda wish I hadn't watched that video earlier since it's "lol wtf chained Kud", but meh. I'll find out whats going on sooner or later.
That said, this might be stupid, but since I haven't skipped a Rin cat scene so far, that's something I want to see animated, lol.

I liked the ending too, because while Takeru gets his uber harem, in the world invaded by BETA, every single one of the people who were part of A01 is dead. So it's not all happy end, lol. Also Kasumi in a non BETA world is sweet.
first half was pretty zzz, with lolboobsasbigaschobis'shead and WHITE OF CENSORING STRIKES AGAIN, but second half was good assuming that Yui lost on purpose, because otherwise it's pretty blargh. At least she kicked Chobis ass SO HARD, which is nice. Slightly less of the herp derp racism/nationalism, which is good imo.
I'm really enjoying this show. It still has its funny moments as I had expected, but it goes much further beyond that. I do feel that they need to spend more than a single episode on each conflict, although it seems there are at least plans to go further. The title of the next episode is pretty ominous.
Taichi's confession had me laughing quite a bit, although Inaba's response nearly killed me.
I feel like they created this episode simply to get the story out of the way. When I read the story in the LN, I felt that the revelation that there were middle players who lagged behind the front line and that being alone can be dangerous even in normally appropriately leveled areas (i.e., Scilica was fine dealing with a single enemy, but had immense difficulty handling any more than that despite being appropriately leveled). Everything felt rushed overall. I really, really, really hope they aren't planning on doing everything chronologically, or else it will feel REALLY stupid >.<
This show is so terrible. Honestly, they don't have to give Haru his powers back the EPISODE AFTER LOSING THEM. How he just "figured out" the concept of controlling things with his will so quickly was a bit stupid, given than 7 days in the unlimited zone is hardly anything in real life. He was whining 2 hours ago; why is he suddenly fine with life?
They resolved the conflict far too quickly for my tastes. His Unlimited Blade Works is way imba, but then they try making it seem like it's not imba by not having it finish off Athena.
I really like one thing about Campione: UBW and gates of babylon had a baby (though closer to UBW since lol reality marble). But that's basically it. It has pretty hot kisses though...
SAO feels too fragmented for me so far, it's one story per episode with little connection between them, can I get something that lasts longer than one episode, please?
As for AW, I don't really know why I am still watching it. I liked the last episode (the one before lolimagine) since seeing Haru suffer for real is justice - you have really succeeded in making a good MC when I get pleasure from him getting stepped on (not).
If anyone read my whole post – thank you for the patience and sorry for the wall of text!
I liked the ending too, because while Takeru gets his uber harem, in the world invaded by BETA, every single one of the people who were part of A01 is dead. So it's not all happy end, lol. Also Kasumi in a non BETA world is sweet.

I just didnt like how the ending killed all the character development and progression he went through -.-. Much rather him die a badass than get a do over with a super harem.
Encountered black screen with "congratulations on making it this far" yadayada something about waking up...was that a dead end or do the character routes end abruptly like that? Argh I'm confused... someone, save me... don't want to risk spoilers by using google, lol.

Which ones have you tried? I agree that there a lot of bad ones this season, but out of the new ones I personally like Jinrui/Kokoro Connect/SAO. I also like MLA:TE but I think you need to have played through MLA to do that, lol.
I have played through MLA, and im watching MLA:TE its pretty good. Bimbougami is pretty funny too
The other ones ive seen so far are: Tari Tari, Joshiraku, H ga dekinai, Imouta ga iru, and koi to chocolate.

WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME THAT!? WHY DO I HAVE TO DO KOMARI BEFORE FULL RIN?! ASJWIJJFDIQDQPLDPQ
*ahem*. I feel cheated on. Oh well, new game, go for anego, I guess... or can I just continue from an early save? Hmmm don't want to redo too much of the early stuff... -.-
But when the others are finished, can I continue on my current Rin save or do I need to go through it again? :S

Not a fan of the last three, and Tari Tari is pretty slow so far (might become good), Joshiraku is mildly entertaining. I re-recommend Jinrui (or well, people call it Jinsui) and Kokoro Connect.
I have semi dropped Arcana Famiglia since they have done jack shit (+ some backgrounds) for 4 episodes...

Speeding through common route is easy because you've read it all before. Use that skip button. It literally takes five minutes if you don't bother with the minigames.

Don't reuse saves.
Very well. Anego it is then. Any recommendation on any of the other routes? Kud route seems to be hated, and I feel unfounded hate for Komari. Lol.
