The detail on it is awesome, but nothing like that GSC promo for Senjyogahara, all those stationaries! Funny, I never noticed that about Hayate, though I never paid attention to eyecatches either. You should've kept quiet! Now we know your darkest secrets! Not that eroge is a huge deal. Griffon does weird things with their figurines though, kind of nice to see a different color scheme simply for the sake of change. ROFL, if by we, you mean like 4 people in this thread, then yes. Oh, no pointing hiding for me, considering how much I talk about original material half of the people already would've figured that I also read the eroges, been painted black long ago ![]() I am just sitting around waiting to see how the Figma and GSC version of Senjyogahara turns out, they might really get money out of me this time...I guess I'll go dig up a pic of winter wonderfest or something later...or just tell people to check sankaku for it. I don't know if Rance makes any sense as a pure SLG without any ero elements though, it just doesn't feel like Rance. I admit the game wasn't that deep, but it was fun, without being needlessly complicated. I have played in depth strategy games before, and I do enjoy them, but Rance was something different, and it may have been the oversimplification that drew me in. Excluding the eroge portions, of course. ;p Though this was my first Rance game, I do agree that removing all the eroge elements from it wouldn't feel right. And don't get me wrong, I'd be against it, regardless. But I was trying to get across the I'd still play it, even if it weren't a Rance title (that's probably better wording), as I truly enjoyed the gameplay aspect more than is probably believed (like an I read Playboy for the articles argument). And the story certainly wasn't as good as other visual novels/eroge have shown they can be, it most certainly had some charm to it, and a unique sense of humor.

It was also my first Rance. Not surprisingly, it's the only Rance with a translation. I enjoyed it tremendously.

Incidentally, it was also my first Rance title. Oooh I remember now, though I'd make the point that the gameplay of Nobunaga/Romance are pretty different from those found in Rance 7, which was an excellent boiled down version to the point that it has its own things going for it. Removing all the eroge elements from Rance just makes Rance not Rance, it kind of destroys his character and a lot of the things that makes the game so amusing. Something that was so straightforward about the process of taking women won in battle really wouldn't be the same without it.The story was pretty good for a multi-route Alicesoft game though, as another SLG focused company, their scripts just can't compare to Eushully's in general. Time to revive the old Fanta argument of playing it all for the plot, one really could read playboy for the articles! Just a T-M reference should be fine, I'd probably start blabbing about how I miss the early 2000 style of text based descriptions before CG and voice acting has gotten into full swing, Tsukihime was an amazing piece of work. Though since then my attention has been placed much more on the rakkyo parts of the Nasuverse. Since I went from reading Nasu to Nishio Ishin, maybe I should start filling in the blanks before and after these two.

I'm also surprised that Saber beat out Tohsaka by a decently wide margin. I have no idea how popular ToHeart is, and Feena seems like an utterly random 5th rank.

As for Uesugi Kenshin, the genderbend there is quite understandable. The likes of Okita Souji and Uesugi Kenshin has always had some bit of a urban legend kind of following as to their real gender being female. Saber being Arthur though...Nasu probably just didn't want to rewrite half of the things from the original idea of Saber being a guy. ![]() EDIT - Oh, bearbuddy, I am going through vol 2 of bungaku shoujo now. The angst dropped to like, nearly nothing. We are still getting things about Miu and such, but nothing comparable to the first vol's levels, I seriously think that it is really just a case of the theme from first vol being No Longer Human. As I slowly run out of excuses to read that.

Uesugi is... a samurai with aesthetics. Rance's version, Kenshin lacks refinement in mannerism, but is very moe. It's really strange how there are so many different versions of Kenshin. Not that I'm complaining, of course, moe!Kenshin is very, very awesome.

![]() Well, Sengoku Jidai is particularly romanticized far as a period goes, and the conflicts between Uesugi and Takeda being one of the most renowned ones. It isn't surprising that we see a lot of interpretations on various aspects of it, the biggest surprise in Rance 7 might be how we aren't given a moe version of Takeda to go with everything. Or, that and the Mori, and...actually now that I think about it, Alicesoft spared us a rendition where they'd just have everyone genderbent, like some other works have attempted.

I do think that vol 1 provided excellent shock value to keep readers going even if they don't get drawn in by the characters immediately though (like I do with Touko, how can one not love a character that's willing to learn languages to read the original works). Been breaking up these vols with different readings like Accel World and now Durarara, at this rate I won't be getting any sleep tonight. It...was a horrible game. Even if I disregard the inconsistent art, the bad lines, the below average voice acting, the music that I muted in like 5 minutes...even then the system still sucked. How something fails on such a fundamental level is beyond me.
