I don't understand it either. Things falls on some moeblobs hair for an entire episode and 'thats the joke'. I'm sorry but you must have the mental age of 5 to appreciate anything kyoto animation makes to it's fullest, and Nichijou is no exception.
Nichibros, however is witty, relatively funny and even slightly original (as original as slapstick slice of life can be).

I mean, Nichibros was pretty damn relatable, especially to me since I just recently got out of high school, so the jokes were pretty amusing and it kind of gives me a feeling of "yeah, I probably would've done something dumb like that."
Nichijou was pretty amusing, because it just made me happy. When stress was getting high, Nichijou was a pretty nice 30 minute break from work. I also thought that the characters in that show actually ended up changing quite a bit by the end of the series, and they ended up being characters that were pretty funny no matter what they did.

What the characters do in nichijou is also very dumb... which is partially why it's so great. So why hate on nichibros so much? Personally, I have difficulty ranking one above the other (maybe nichibros below nichijou because the girls were just extremely annoying). But I giggled madly in my seat through both series. =P
