I didnt say Nichibros was bad. I just like moe slapstick more than a bunch of male teenagers being dumb. Neither is particularly original mind you, and that was the point.

lol@ the nichijou haters, not surprised a lot of people didn't like it. Asides from the obvious excessive moe the humor is also really Japanese-culture referential I find. Had to get someone to explain some a gag now and then.

+ Show Spoiler +Akari flags all over the place.... some how the one thing I didn't like about alot of shoujo was that somebody always get the shorter end of the stick, I always liked the plot where 2 girls fight for a guy while 2 guys fight for a girl the losers still get together. you know So you don't feel so shitty for the losers right? I hope this manga ends like that where most of the losers still get a match

They're different because the authors each took the idea of something and spun it into something else. Shinigami are just grim reapers (in terms of western culture). It's like the various depictions of vampires or demons. None of them are "accurate", just different ways of imagining how something might be (but twilight got it really really wrong).
If you REALLY want an answer, then the Death Note version seems closer to a shinigami in the traditional sense. Though I'd be hesitant to call either "accurate".

Japanese shinigami are something similar to the concept of Cheron in Greek mythology. They are there to bring you to the other side, and in Japanese mythology there is also the depiction of a river (Sanzu).
So your answer would be neither.

Which route are you on/aiming for right now? In terms of interest, I would say + Show Spoiler + and + Show Spoiler + routes are the most interesting, + Show Spoiler + is decent (YMMV), + Show Spoiler + is meh

Anyone reading "Girls of the Wild's"? It's a korean manhwa (which I usually don't like as a rule) about a miserable poor guy that is trying to raise 2 younger siblings by himself, and gets a scholarship at a fighting-centric girls-only highschool recently turned co-ed. He's the only male student and of course he's got harem following him from Day 1, but there's also a lot of ass-kicking, not just pure harem.
This along with Paladin, are pretty good.
