Last things I've seen were One Outs and K-ON (both masterpieces). Then I stopped for whatever reason. So yesterday and the day before I watched: Railgun - awesome, so much better than Index Darker Than Black 2 - "wut?", though being russian it was amusing at points Nyan Koi - surprisingly well done and enjoyable, expected to rage at the cliches
What else should I catch up on... hmmm.

I watched the trailer for Omamori Himari...now, I realize that it was like 7 years (I think) ago that I read the manga, but I don't remember it being this much of a blatant T&A series. + Show Spoiler +Kuroko's voice is the voice of a goddess. I don't care if nico nico douga and 2ch posters call it a 'grandma voice', it's amazing. Kuroko's voice...you get used to it, the more I hear and the more I read the novels the more sense it makes. It just fits, somehow. Probably a byproduct of being perverted and speaking in such a formal tone.

I haven't experienced an anime season that bad since 2002 I don't think... Fall 09 was not that bad. Kimi ni Todoke, Railgun, Darker than Black, Seitokai, Kampfer... I see a lot of genres covered here. Not to say that some (Kampfer) was good, but it wasn't BAD. There have been much worse seasons... Rozen Maiden is ok... Not much else to say about it. NO. Kimi ni Todoke was relatively cute but all these 'oh he's so kind to me ohh I can't take it anymore' moments made it too much. It's basically same thing all way through. Not bad, but not very good either. Compare it to Honey and Clover which shares the same art and mood and it doesn't stand a chance. Railgun? How did they even ... how would 2 borderline lolis running around in a city playing guards and solving stupid mysteries become a good show? The jokes are repetitive, the characters are also repetitive and my ears bleed from Kuroko's voice. It's funny sometimes but easily forgettable. Sure, anything is better than Index but it wasn't that much better. Darker than Black? Not exactly bad either, but with plot holes and new confusing characters added in every episode, it felt rushed and when it ended it was more like 'oh ok' than a real conclusion. It was definitely a disappointment if you watched the first season. Seitokai? I can't really criticize slapstick reference comedies because I dislike yet enjoy most of them by nature, but I don't see how this was any special to previous ones. I don't know about you but sitting around a table and making reference jokes to other anime becomes a bit tedious after a couple of episodes. At least Lucky Star had some sort of slice of life happenings in it. Kampfer? I don't even think I have to comment on this one lol. I believe this season was very easily forgettable, I seriously only found Aoi Bungaku worthwhile after watching all of them for a while... I personally enjoy Kimi ni Todoke far more than I did H&C, but then again the latter just somehow didn't interest me in any way.
Misaka is repetitive? Perhaps if we were to view every tsundere to be identical, and even then those high up on the ranking have an identity of their own. Misaka herself is great, but as for the anime, like all JC produced animes based off some long-running light novel [derivative], you can't really expect everyone to take after Railgun too well.
Under that description DtB one is largely the same, except we trade Suou for Yin and Amber. Yeah, season 1 is infinitely better
Seitokai and LS are different things though, LS definitely revolved around the slice of life aspect, and even the way the two handle references are slightly different. I have to say that I generally find Seitokai funnier, but LS wins on the moe factor...that seems to be more of a demerit.

Watched K-ON for like 2 episodes and stoped.... such a crappy anime at least for me i cant understand how a MAN can watch that crap at all. I can see only 10 year old girls watching K-ON its just amazes me how some ppl can enjoy that its beyond me. And i dont even wanna see kampfer because i know i will dislike it.
For me Aoi Bungaku was the best of last season and Kimi no Todoke is good and of course Spice And Wolf 2nd season was great too!
Gonna start Darker Than Black 1st season today hope its good.

In response to Shauni: I'm finishing H&C season 1 and I'm really enjoying it. But Kimi ni todoke is good too, it's development is much slower, but then again Sadako IS slow and uncertain of her feelings for she has no experience and is pure. I mean, the pace is fit to the main character. Slice of life just like H&C, but still different; and the drama is much deeper in H&C, yet a lot funnier imo. Even if their genres are similar, you have to consider much more when comparing. And there's the individual preferences factor too...
Overall, Fall 09 was indeed bad, but to me, Kimi ni todoke and Kobato were more than enough.

Just watched first ep of sorawoto
looks pretty good so far if you ask me, ofc it was a setup episode but it was a pretty good one.
I like kimi ni todoke a lot because its cute and sweet and romancy. I havnt watched H&C but it sounds like the premise of that might not be as entertaining for me but i will watch it anyway

Honey and Clover is a pretty good romance.
Romance series I enjoyed recently were Lovely Complex (although the male lead is a poor character imo) and 5 Centimeters Per Second. Wanna cry like a bitch? Watch 5 cm per second.

Well I was going to sleep when I checked the News and I saw a Live action Kimi ni Todoke. No idea how this will work, but it'll be interesting.
But the real highlight is undoubtedly a new Code Geass project. How much more can they milk out of the franchise? Stay tuned to find out.
Oh, and Amazon has apparently listed DVDs for Kizumonogatari and Nisemonogatari (prequel and sequel to Bakemonogatari). Now THAT I can get behind ^_^

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it here, but Slayers was my first anime, and I'm a bit nostalgic about it. The animation is old, but charming in its own way. It's basically a homage to D&D stereotypes...hard to explain. An equal mix of action and comedy. It'll probably always be my favorite anime, give it a try if you have time to kill.

Kizumonogatari is a lot of stuff to cram in, bake managed only because of how they simply stuffed in text, Kizu isn't going to get away with it.
That and since Karen and Tsukihi are awesome, Nisemonogatari should at least be 24 episodes.
We should also note that the links are taken down now, probably just a mistake.
And heh, I was down yesterday night for the most part and now get up to see a ton of raws out, cheers.

Good timing with that post, I was just wondering what do I watch next. Hope there's not too much dumb drama in Slayers, I prefer easy-going fun shows.

Wonder where did the spambot pick up, Slayers definitely has been mentioned before...
Baka test looks pretty good on comedy value, though I wonder how far they plan to advance with the storyline, it is moving pretty fast considering how much content is out so far.

Just watched vampire bund ep 1
Obviously a setup episode but im still looking forward to the rest of it
|
The first ep of Bund doesn't follow the manga at all, it's an original ep.
I'm hoping that the rest will follow the manga. I'm surprised there was no fanservice, since in the manga the vampire loli runs around in a thong while topless killing people.
|
Ohaahahaha
Baka no test is damn awesome lol, my favourite "first ep" of something so far, really funny haha. Good light watching for once

I watched So Ra No Wo To. Meh. Not a lot happened, but I suppose it is the only the first episode. I guess I'll stick it out for one or two more episodes and see if it gets any better.
Apparently, they're considering making a stage version of Code Geass or maybe even a musical. I don't even know what to make of this.
|
Well Sora no Woto probably isn't going to have a lot of extreme shit going down. It seems to be a lot like Haibane, which is a good thing imo

You should be thinking "awesome."

that show trapeze looks pretty sick
it's the only show i've seen discussed on /a/ without a single person shitting on it, so it must be good.
