5cm has a manga now? I loved the first chapter. It goes into more detail than the movie while still maintaining that feeling of being mere memories.

You know what the MC of Hidan does in the entire first volume of the LN? Not much. Mostly he flails around helplessly until Hysteria mode kicks in after some fanservice. Quite honestly, the beginning scene where he takes out the segways (lol) was probably the highlight of vol 1.
+ Show Spoiler [LN vol 1 spoilers] +And then there's random shit that doesn't make sense. For instance, apparently a Boeing 747 can survive a missile hit because it's "cutting edge technology". So commercial aircraft are now built to military spec? Cool.
At one point, Aria has to fly a passenger jet and does so, stating that she's flown small aircraft before. Believe me when I say it's not the same thing. There's a world of difference between flying a single engine Cessna and a damaged multi-engine passenger jet. And of course the autopilot is broken (which is actually believable, since it's not really designed to survive missile strikes even if the rest of the plane can somehow withstand the damage).
Also, the author has no idea how aircraft radios work, and it's pretty apparent that he didn't bother to research it either. He set the radio from transmit to receive? What the hell? If you're not transmitting, you're automatically receiving. And then the MC tells the controller to "connect him to the frequencies of all the aircraft in the area" so that he can use his superpowers to learn to fly a plane by listening to 11 pilots at once. Except that 1) each aircraft isn't assigned a specific radio frequency because that'd be retarded. The whole point of radio is to let other aircraft know what you're going to do. Being isolated in your own frequency kinda defeats that purpose. Normally, all aircraft will be on the tower frequency when in the vicinity of the airport, or on the specified IFR channel. And 2) YOU CAN'T HAVE 11 PEOPLE TRANSMITTING AT THE SAME TIME. You know what happens when two people transmit at once? Their signals will overlap and interfere with each other, and the result is a single, very messed up waveform. And when the radio detects that signal, it will kindly output a very high pitched, very annoying screech.
And then as the plane slowly descends toward its doom, the JSDF decides to show up and the MC brilliantly deduces that they're going to shoot down the plane so that it doesn't crash into Tokyo and cause thousands of casualties. (how's that for quick decision making? The Japanese gov't sure is efficient) He promptly decides to fly over the city so that they can't shoot him down. You have no idea how badly I wished for Kiritsugu to be there with a Stinger or two to sacrifice those lives for the greater good.
And finally, the way the MC lands the plane was pretty funny. He basically crashes the wing into a wind turbine so that the plane spins. I like to think that he killed half the passengers onboard by causing pieces of shrapnel to ripping through the fuselage.
So basically, as a pilot, this LN is an atrocity.

What I wouldn't give to have Kami-sama's skills to use in SC2
|
Still don't like Steins Gate. There seems to be some movement in the story but it's still just a snoozefest at this point. Probably going to let it run ahead a few eps and see if it suddenly floats in this thread as the next big thing. It just isn't fun to watch at this point.
|
Ah, Kami-sama Dolls getting an anime? Not his work I'd have expected to get an anime most, but oh well.
|
Steins;Gate placed 13th in sales during its first week of release with 16,434 copies sold,[54] 28th on its second week with 4,253 copies,[55] and 26th on its third week with 6,095 copies, totaling 26,782 copies.[56] Steins;Gate placed fourth in overall Xbox 360 game sales on Amazon Japan on the year starting on December 1, 2008 and ending November 30, 2009.[57] Senji Ishii of Famitsu Xbox 360 praised the scenario for its detail and noted that events that were overlooked as insignificant later returned to affect events of the future. Due to the way the plot ties the many different events of the game together, Ishii believes it must have been a lot of work to write the scenarios.[6] As for 2009, Famitsu awarded Steins;Gate as annual game of excellence award.[58] 4Gamer.net commented that Steins;Gate is comparable to 428: Fūsa Sareta Shibuya de and felt that it is a gem that has not been seen in recent years.[59] ITmedia Gamez noted that players should be attentive to all the details in the story as the twists will surprise the player in many different ways. It was also suggested to the player that the characters' voices be left turned on as the voice acting is very good.[60] The review did caution that players who have played through the demo and who did not enjoy the atmosphere of the game were not likely to find the rest of the game interesting.[61]
If you're not enjoying it, it would be best if you drop and forget about it, or come back and rewatch in 6 months time(24 episodes). Considering the fun part only starts at around chapter 4/11, which would convert to around episode 8-10 of the anime.

I hope you didn't really expect an author to have researched that much before writing Shana v1.1

+ Show Spoiler [retort] +I don't think that you need to be a pilot to know that commercial airliners aren't built to survive direct hits from missiles. True, most people probably don't think about it, but for me unrealistic stuff like that would be such a turn off.
Maybe in volume 2 a cruise ship gets hit by a torpedo and doesn't sink lolol
+ Show Spoiler [TWGOK 139] +Seems like after they find all the goddesses they may have a pretty lulzy concept for a harem. I wonder if Keima will still feign his affection or will actually fall for one of the girls, ending the series perhaps.
I also forgot how cute Tsukiyo was.
Keima is such a filthy, creepy, suspicious, womanizing, perverted man
