Obviously OP is much older so there's that, but if ToG 10 years later turns out to be half as good as what OP is now, I'd be very happy. I am not too hopeful, because I find it much less interesting since season 2 and the pacing has been terrible. But that might be just me.

As much as I can understand for the other points, even if I don't agree at all, those ones are just dumb. What would science or numbers add to One Piece? It already has its own rules and shit, why does it have to be related to our world in any shape of form?

Im just asking your guy's help. After reading about 100 pgs of one piece manga thread, i'm really amazed how you guys came up with such a good theories and explanations. I hope someone fully debunk that guy's post. Apparently he thinks death note and bleach are the best mangas..

The counter argument is simply that Oda has created a fantasy world, not a world of reality. Basic laws of physics do not apply (which is true in almost every manga), although the series seems to have its own laws that it stays consistent with. Many of the "stupid story plots" actually connect and what once seemed like a silly worthless plot actually turns into something important later on in the series. In fact, almost the entire series and every side plot gets woven back into the main plot which means that almost everything you read is relevant or someday will be. Oda puts in so many details and little clues to the future that are extremely easy to miss, that even careful readers will constantly miss things and then realize later on what they missed.
The plot lines often have positive messages throughout and are sometimes allegoric in nature. A lot of people thought the Fishman Island arc was sub-par, but look at it again through the lens of the fishmen being a middle eastern country while the humans are the western world. The story is discussing terrorism and some of the causes of it. It also provides some suggestions on how to deal with it... much of the hatred/suspicion can be removed through communication, but some hatred is purely for the sake of hatred and must be defeated. Or think of the three ancient weapons: Pluton (plutonium), Uranus (uranium), poseidon (?). Plutonium and uranium are the ingredients for atomic weapons and in the One Piece pluton is being represented by an extremely powerful ship capable of destroying islands (like an atomic bomb). We don't know the form of Uranus yet, but expect it to also be a weapon capable of mass destruction.
As for character designs, again, we're in a fantasy world... though many are loosely based on actual people. The character designs are designed to give a large variety to the characters. In a world where there are hundreds of named characters, this is extremely important to help differentiate each one so that we can often tell who a character is purely by his/her silhouette or just a small glimpse of them. Are they silly at times? Yep, that's intended. While the story often deals with very tough topics: oppression, torture, slavery, corruption, terrorism, etc, it broaches those topics without depressing the reader by maintaining a certain amount of silliness throughout. This allows Oda to speak out on many tough topics without turning away a large portion of his audience who just want to enjoy a fun-filled manga.
And when it comes to fun, One Piece delivers.

I didn't really want to start arguing about OP vs ToG. I just think that many things in OP like characters interaction is really predictable, ToG feels like it is significantly less predictable and characters are more complex. It also feels like OP has many scenarios of "it's magic"-syndrome where stuff isn't explained properly and happens because "that's how it is", for example the stream to Skypeia. It's kind of difficult to argue in detail at this point due to ToG being so much younger. If by "detail" you would mean the background flowers or art in general then I'd have to say that OP is much better, of course. ToG's art is mediocre at best.

By the way I'm not saying that OP is bad either, it just is my #2 manga/manhwa and I believe the thing that's most interesting about OP just advances painfully slowly(World Government stuff, poneglyphs, the Void Century, ancient mass destruction weapons like Shirahoshi, politics) and it's filled with stuff that's really not all that important(most arcs), for the sake of adventure.

no one knows where it is though.
and as for op vs tog. theyre too different too compare and tog is too young. should be noted though that tog has the most complex story/world that ive seen so far. comparing the amount of detail in the world of tog to one piece is like comparing the pyramids to a playground
