The timeskip was pretty much the halfway point. besides, as Luffy said, it's not about the ending, it's about the adventure.

I never implied that ![]() Ok I'm still happy then since OP is my fav manga, I'm just afraid it will end up being shit like Bleach or Naruto :S The difference between Bleach, Naruto, or DBZ versus One Piece is that the author has a clear objective in mind and seems to have at least a strong outline of how to get there. That objective is the finding of One Piece which still seems to be way off in the future. There's also a decent amount of foreshadowing that points to a great battle that will happen after One Piece is found. The manga will likely have a coherent and wonderfully written story up to that point. For the mangas that really fell apart, they all were victims of their own fame. Bleach was set up as a series to save Rukia and overthrow/reform a corrupt ruling society in the afterlife. They did, but the series was too popular, so the author tried to continue and it never was as good again... Ichigo had already gone through and gained bankai, the most powerful abilities in the world so then we got the mask and the ultra-powered quincies which never seemed right. DBZ was set up as a series to defeat Frieza, the ruler and most powerful being in the universe. But it became so popular that the series continued on after Frieza's defeat and Frieza became a joke while more powerful beings kept getting thrown in. The author has already blown his wad in making Goku the legendary super saiyan, so he started to rely on sillier things (Fu-sion-ha!) to keep the series moving forward. One Piece doesn't have those problems yet and won't for quite a long time. I just hope that Oda will insist on ending the series when it's supposed to end and not get pressured into extending it.

I don't believe One Piece will ever have these problems as Oda has planned the outline and most of the details for the entirety of the story (he has even told his underling people the entire story till the end). Bleach and to a certain extent Naruto have only continued due to demand, One Piece has had the basics of the entire story set from the beggining and has a God tier mangaka at the helm.

Its very much the same tbh, just not as obvious. please - Haki has been foreshadowed for hundreds of chapters before Luffy eventually got to use it. As for the firefist under water - this is just Oda's style. Zoro grew 2 heads and 4 arms, Sanji puts his leg on fire on a regular basis, people can fly via kicking the air it's true that they're all power ups - the difference is that SSJ was supposed to be the ultimate powerup. A once in a 1000 years occurance that shakes the very foundations of the universe. An arc later and random robots from Earth can beat SSJs. THAT'S the problem with SSJ/Bankai/whatever, not that it's a power up.

It's not just about 'power levels' with One Piece, there are other factors like worldly influence, intelligence, etc. to be taken into account and it's what makes the characters and their fights interesting. We have absolutely no idea how strong Burgess really is and it's impossible to compare him to anyone else even of the same level (ie Marco) because we don't know much about him and his situation. We don't know who he can beat or who will beat him not only because we don't know who he'll be fighting, but because we haven't REALLY even SEEN him fight yet.

He has been shown to be physically weak enough for Whitebeard to be able to beat the shit out of him, for him to be beaten by Magellan, and hell, he looked like he was struggling with even Luffy. I think if you have strong Haki, you can own. See Rayleigh and Shanks. But yes BB got 2 broken fruits which is Yami and Gura Gura. Seriously,Luffy just need better Haki and higher mastery of his DF(maybe more Gears?)
