I can't read this thread because there are manga spoilers and I only watch the anime... lame! Umm... That is why we have spoiler tags. If you don't want to read anything about manga, we are not FORCING you to. Although there are some people who don't put spoilers inside the tags, which I don't like either, because it ruins it for other people. And about the anime, there's not much to talk about ? The animation quality keeps going down and the only reason I watch anime is because of the voices and music, which makes it more emotional. First you say how I'm wrong since I don't have to read the spoilers... then you freely admit that people often don't use spoilers... make up your mind! Don't give me crap like there's nothing to talk about in the anime... Don't blame me because the other people don't use spoiler tags. I always use spoiler tags because I wish to keep manga storyline seperate from those who don't wish to hear it. It's not my fault that there are some here who don't care for other people like I do. And yes, there really is not much to talk about the anime when most conversation goes on about the manga, which the anime draws into movement anyway, except for useless fillers. And even at that, Toei fails hard. One of the biggest, if not THE biggest animation company and their quality is so low. Even some smaller companies have higher quality. Watch the first 15 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and then the latest 15 episodes of One Piece. You'll see the difference of class. Even the supposedly 'funny' Mr. 3 and Buggy scenes are so obnoxious and childish, it makes me sigh.
I'm not blaming you for creating spoilers... only for criticizing me for being annoyed that other people will spoil me here, which you admitted they will.
Just because the anime doesn't add anything doesn't mean there's not much to discuss since the anime watchers can't really piggy back on the manga discussions.

Well you could start by giving me a topic to share my thoughts about, I would love to do so Would you like to talk about how sometimes Luffy gets bloody from physical attacks when he shouldn't? That's a great anime flaw in my eyes, not following a very important fact. Maybe I'm being too critical myself, only finding flaws in the anime ? How about battle scenes of One Piece and how they compare to some other Shounen anime. For me, the Devil Fruits give a wonderful chance to create something original in animation history, which cannot be seen in manga. Sometimes the animation directors could have made some bits work out better than others, but all in all, the combat has been excellent and exciting. Enies Lobby/Water 7 Arc was one of the best animation I've seen and it's a shame how downhill it went from there. It slightly started to go down right after Thriller Bark. The 'liquid' and low framerate of body movement is very ugly. I like the characters to be stiff and sturdy, like in the earlier episodes. Since there is an arc coming up with great and epic battles, I hope that Toei will do something great with it. I am hoping that they worked harder on that, that's why they're slacking off in the present.

I mean I'm not saying I can't see any difference whatsoever but it always seems to be blown out of proportion by 25% of the viewers who chat online about the anime. I recall people saying after some naruto episodes "wow that animation was amazing; on par with number xxx" and other times "oh my god that animation was such trash I can't believe it" and I don't even notice the difference unless I'm specifically looking for it... I guess I'm just not that picky.

I'm not too critical on anime quality either. More concerned with the storytelling aspect of it. I can last through South Park and Crayon Shin-Chan just based on content alone. One piece's animation is art in comparison.
Seems like only avid anime watchers are spoiled. My anime/manga obsession is just limited to one piece.

I dunno where the hate for the One Piece anime comes from, either. I started with the anime, before mass reading the manga when they were at Shabody. I don't really have any problem with it, although the Buggy/Mr. 3 stuff was kinda getting on my nerves.
I also agree that this topic isn't good for anime-only watchers. Too many people don't spoiler their posts.
The anime is about to get to a really good part. Like the "big" events in Impel Down that has happened so far doesn't really compare at all to whats coming.

I started one piece with anime too but i've since moved on to the manga hehe. Meh. I can't wait till this young luffy story stuff is finished. I don't really like it that much

The more time they spend apart the more hidden powers and Zenkai moves they could have unlocked so its a good thing, it also gives rise to theory that maybe the core crew will all turn into pirate captains and then finally unite under luffy. We dont know right?

the bleach thread's sarcasm isn't needed here > I don't find the stories of the past to be the most fun parts of the manga, but I think they're necessary for the immense character development which makes one piece greater than, dare I say, DBZ? The gimmicks and every character's mannerisms (luffy loving his meat, sanji digging the girls, etc), are often found in other shounen manga as well; but I find one piece amazing because of its emotional content, kind of like the notion of catharsis in old greek dramas.

From what episode would your recommend to watch One Piece ? I`m not into fillers or long stories that are irrelevant to the current main plot ^ ^

Episode 1.
One Piece is the only anime where I loved every single filler episode.

I watched 130 episodes but I`m not into any more fillers, certainly not now.

Wow there was more filler mixed in their than I realized... there were some episodes I skipped in the series because they were obviously filler.

Thats a good sign , I think One PIece fillers are quite watchable and entertaining in their own way, while Bleach and especially Naruto fillers make your eyes bleed.

Whoa I wasn't expecting that particular development.
+ Show Spoiler +The Tenryuubito are coming to Luffy's old neck of the woods eh.

+ Show Spoiler +sabo's gonna die isn't he shot in the face by some assholeryuto
tbh, while i lurve one piece (and most of the backstories), I also can't wait till the story keeps moving on in the present. i have a feeling oda is trying to rush it a bit as well... expecting a return to the present in two chapters.

Yeah filler arc generally are because of not enough manga to use so they just delay it for a few months till they get more content, they don't want viewers to go away so they just make shit up, usually with consulting with the writer though, some of the fillers in naruto or one piece gives some back story that wasn't given in the manga though most of the time this isn't it. The most recent example of this would be the bobble guy, one of those jin-chu-E-key or w.e in naruto his backstory was completely skipped in the manga but is considered legit cannon.
