After that it got pointless. The issue with bleach was simple: the protagonist was very shallow. I mean, Ichigo went to soul society to save Rukia FOR WHAT? HE SAVED HER.... and then why does he conitnue? The guy has a jesus complex and it was never explained really.

I think the issue was that the SS arc was really good and Kubo never quite got why it was that good (the whole growing up metaphor). That and the fact that he was forced to continue with something he lost interest in, which really showed in both art and story.

I never understood why people like bleach because they think it was about "growing up". Most people got that idea from a youtube video right? Bleach was at its strongest when it was a desperate fight against the supernatural. The best parts of Bleach were before the Soul Society arc IMO, since that is the point at which it transformed into a classic beat-em-up shonen. What I enjoyed the most about the early stuff were how the paranormal and psychological elements mixed together like when ghosts were coming after the living due to some lost regret or whatever. I get that there was not much room to grow after that except for something like soul society, but I still can't help but be disappointed when something novel turns into the same old crap you find anywhere.

The story sure outstayed its welcome though. In the following arcs the world and characters became thin like cardboard. Lots of characters lost their purpose in the show, yet kept hanging on. But yeah, enough about Bleach. Craving for another chapter!
