Although the similarities with nami and robin arc are obvious, I think there are some differences (in my memory, might be wrong). Nami wanted to save the village, and cried out of despair. Robin tried to protect the crew by turning herself in; seeing her history as a 'homeless' person, there is a thematic meaning in wanting to go back. So those two are different. In Sanji's case, there is no history in the same way as in the other two cases. Sanji has two homes, one being a loving home, and one being a hateful one. The fact that he is willing to not return to the crew, to protect both of them (instead of only the loving home, see page 14), leads me to believe that he is driven by duty. In a sense, he is torn apart by his wish to continue to travel on the one hand, and his duty to protect on the other hand. (Incidently, 'duty' is an important aspect of the historical concept bushido, which I found rather funny, as they're pretty close to Wano Kuni; I'm probably just seeing things, though) It's obviously a copy/ripoff/whatever, but just wanted to add some nuance. | ||

So I guess because we have fast pacing and a strong main plot, this scene doesn't feel nearly as important as it should. At least for me anyway. Also, I don't think there will be a Big Mom fight in this arc. I think Oda is saving that for the next arc when the crew will team up against Kaido - which will be the Oz fight from Thriller Park 2.0. | ||
