She probably hates Lola, and Lola's talk of love sickened her. If that flashback was supposed to reflect positively on her, why didn't she provide any commentary on it, internally or otherwise? The lack of exposition was meant to leave it open as to what its purpose was.

The scene with the flashback to Lola and then the subsequent flashback to Big Mom telling Pudding what to wear and to do everything she tells her to signifies that Pudding wants to rebel against her mother.
If Big Mom had planned to slaughter the Gherma from the start then her shooting Sanji and capturing his sister would be her following her mom's wishes. Clearly, she doesn't want to do that. Hence, she's pretending.

Exactly, it doesn't spoon feed you, and you have to try and think about what it means. Its strange to me that you would take that scene entirely at face value, and then lecture me about it. With absolutely no commentary and exposition to go along side the scene, it could imply virtually anything. In light of things that has been revealed, there is next to nothing that points to Pudding being anything other than a willing, able, and enthusiastic accomplice to Big Mom. While it all being an act and some grand master plan on Pudding's part is within the realm of possibility, there isn't anything that makes that seem particularly likely, considering virtually all of Pudding's actions thus far have been antagonistic to the Strawhats. She has literally done nothing so far that seems to be an act of rebellion against Big Mom. The facts were already stacked against her before this reveal, even.

This sounds an awful lot like denial, so maybe you are going through the same emotions Sanji is going through?

Its possible, but I think if that was her plan, she had plenty of better opportunities to do so in the past, so her timing now wouldn't make much sense to me.

Right now we have to assume Pudding is in fact a bad guy, something that is a a twist only because of the fact that Oda is reluctant to writing actually bad attractive female characters and because of a well placed flashback that can be interpreted as Pudding wanting to rebel (despite the fact that, as Slaughter said, we are not provided with any insight of how she feels about the flashback).
Right now everything she has done is in line with her being bad.

It's not out of question that she will turn good in the end of course, Oda already pulled the second level twist with Viola but that would be a pretty big cop out in my opinion.

Lol, yes. Good post. What an awful post that was. For now Pudding is bad, and there is no reason to assume otherwise in the Manga.

And what you said about Oda and attractive females is also true. As much as I love Oda and One Piece, when it comes to portraying women he is still years behind and actually just bad and (so far) predictable. He fulfils pretty much every cliche about women there is. The Smurfette principle is in full action (Big Mom only Yonkou, Boa only Shichibukai, Bonney only Supernova, Robin and Nami only Strawhats). Also, attractive women are much more likely to turn from evil to good. We had Nami, Robin, Perona and Viola all turn. Or to be good in the first place. Bonney and Boa are good Supernovas/ Shichibukai. Recently the only good one of Sanji's Siblings is his attrative sister, while his brothers are assholes. His mom was good, his father is evil. The list is pretty long.

With that said, maybe the 3rd eye and the slime are "unattractive" enough to keep Pudding evil. Or Oda surprises us with a completely unexpected twist...

Well that's quite some exposition there Pudding. And good to have it confirmed she's evil. Was silly reading how many couldn't believe that was possible.

Now if only Luffy would stop being so silly. He's usually a bit more throughtful in his stupidity.
