Though to be fair there's a theory which says that Zoro isn't from East Blue, but actually from somewhere else. It's possible that he had a shitty story before he joined the Dojo which he did. I heard theories which say that he came from Water 7. Usopp's mother dying is pretty shitty but he's lived an OK life aside from that. Luffy lost Sabo but otherwise had a pretty fun childhood. Carrot just needs a shitty back-story, but I'm sure she might have one. | ||

brook: probably grew up ok, but he's a skeleton and everyone he's known have died franky: no parents, a wild kid brought up by Tom san, who died luffy: no parents (i wouldn't call dragon a competent parent lmao) nami: orphan brought up by a caretaker, whom got shot robin: ohara #neverforget zoro: orphan, best childhood friend died sanji: ran away from family chopper: reject moose usopp: similar to luffy, motherless with incompetent dad | ||

I realize OP is going fast right now but this is Luffy's story after all. Oda wouldn't throw in 10 chapters of random side characters fighting and any less than that wouldn't do it justice. Also, I don't think Oda wants to reveal post timeskip blackbeard in all of his glory just yet. The duel on Barano was extremely short for a very good reason. | ||

Once someone knows the location of the island and has communicated the location, their would be little point in the revolutionaries to fight for it imo. The whole point of their base was no one knowing where it is. Also wouldn't be the first time the world government misled the information in a newspaper to make them look good. The newspaper article is obviously going to play up the damage done to the revolutionaries as well. | ||
