Henry 4 (2010)

Not sure why they made a movie about him. + Show Spoiler +
He didn't do jack shit but participate in a few battles. Like his life's successes as portrayed by the movie were random circumstance. He marries a princess. The King dies. The new King dies. The Queen dies. I guess something happened to the final younger brother so he becomes king. What was the point of that? Where did he have a meaningful decision?
I think in our modern age technology has evolved to become more addictive. The things that don't give us pleasure aren't used as much. Work was never meant to be fun, but doing it makes us happier in the long run.

Not sure where else to link this, but this is the new Jurassic World trailer. Going to warn you guys ahead of time, it seems to spoil a significant amount of the plot and shows the new dinosaur.

My thoughts:
+ Show Spoiler +
This seems really shitty tbh. I love Jurassic Park and I'm a huge fan of the books, but this looks like utter garbage. I think a lot of the CGI looks really good (some of it looks like shit), but the writing is awful, the plot is beyond retarded, and it seems like it's just a cash grab sequel. I think Chris Pratt is pretty good, even though I didn't like Guardians of the Galaxy, and Vincent D'Onofrio is a great actor, but I think they won't be able to salvage this movie. The trailer seemed to give away all of the suspense of seeing the new dinosaur, and a genetically modified "intelligent" dinosaur that can communicate seems like something from a shitty Sci-Fy channel b-movie. The plot is the kind that seems like a joke, yet is completely serious.

Really disappointed since I've been looking forward to a new Jurassic Park movie for years now. Almost wish that they had just done a reboot of the original with new CGI, since that might have at least been somewhat interesting. Now the only hope for this movie is that it's a decent action movie.

Watching season 1 of Penny Dreadfull (7 episodes is almost a movie), its certainly worth your time. It has a high imdb rating of 8.2. The acting is quite excellent, certainly considering the genre.

The more I see the less hyped I am. It looks so generic and cliched it's painful. They show WAY too much in the trailer, the CGI is inconsistent, and there is a disturbing lack of practical effects. The plot is meh (feels too much like the terrible Jurassic Park 3 with the OP dino) and seems to get dumber as the movies progresses. This movie will be far from great, that much is clear. I don't believe it will come close to the impact of the original, but it will make money so who cares, right Hollywood?

Oh yeah and showing the dino is so fucking dumb. The entire first trailer goes out of its way to NOT show it. The first half of this trailer goes out of its way to NOT show it. Then you show it like 4 times fully in the last minute of the trailer. Talk about losing discipline. You fucking hide the T-rex in the trailer but not the new one? That's like the original Alien trailer showing us what the alien looked like before the movie came out. Dumb.

The original T-rex looked better because it was real. I'd wager making a life-sized moving animatronic with realistic details is more complicated than rendering cgi and blending them into the scenes now that we have the tech and programs to do so.

okay, i have beef with you. Spielberg isn't directing/writing.. in fact he pretty much has nothing to do with Jurassic World altogether. Now then, did Steve go a little overboard with some of his franchises? Surely, everyone remembers what he did with Lucas on Indiana.

I get it. Your mad at Spielberg for churning out some snuff from time to time, but let's not take shots at him for something he has nothing to do with.

Considering it's what I do now? Yes, it's very expensive but people really appreciate it a whole lot more. More and more production companies have been turning to CGI/special effects departments. Anyone remember Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? That was Jim Henson's production company in London who was responsible for all that jazz. They won awards for the movie and they closed the office not soon after.

It is what it is and it's very competitive between the labs because everyone wants jobs done for cheaper rather than good work.

If that's the case StarStruck, then I fucking salute you because you guys deserve way more respect.

Nowadays, movies are setting off "cgi detectors" in my eyes all the time, breaking me out of the suspension of disbelief and ruining the experience. My brain is screaming "faaake," but I put up with it mainly because I'm trying to enjoy the movie. If this is the result of cutting costs, then it certainly is showing up on the big screen.

Moviegoers were spoiled by the first Jurassic Park. That T-rex was awesome!

well to be fair animatronics have been making a slight comeback over the last few years, but CGI still rules the day. There are a lot of moving pieces and I work with a big team and we have guys and girls who specialize in everything from engineering, molding, latex/poxy runners, sculptors, de-molders, painters, concept artists, puppeteers to people who just place hair all day. It's a lot of work to build these suckers.

It's nice when the production companies come asking for stuff. The market is highly competitive and they're always trying to get the best price. That's why you see a lot of bad CGI nowadays because that market is just as competitive.

It's a lot of fun when we get to build the real deal. I like to play around with my big toys. Ha.

Practical effects are making a comeback, thankfully. Seems as though the new Star Wars has tons of it.

That being said, most of the JP1 T-rex was still CGI besides the head scenes and such. I think much of the reason it just seems more "real" is that their limitations meant they couldn't really push the envelope. I think the overall animation was still done by a stop motion animator on a special doll which was then transferred to computer. That meant it was old school real talent mixed with more realistic, less absurd motion. I'm sure the dinos in this new JP will be jumping around like they are super dinosaurs on crack, which will just be tiresome.

It just has a high price tag to do practical effects, that is the main impasse. BB8 is practical though.

man this is beyond dull. But, I did find a condensed version that boils this dud down to about 8 minutes.

theis is my favorite movie. I think it saved my life. Liv Ullman is breathtaking, the rest of the cast is brilliant, those fade to red at the perfect moments, the colors, the paintings... The horror of incommunicability, so well seen, and that light touch of hope at the end...
