It's a pretty straightforward choice to make someone instantly fall down and end with silent credits instead of watching someone choking on their blood for 2 minutes. I'm not an expert so if you're really curious you should google around a bit, but I think if you cut deep enough and in the right place (the neck would be the right place...) and if you lose that much blood that fast you're just gonna die almost instantly. Loss of blood to the brain can make you pass out incredibly fast. It only takes like 4 seconds with a deep rear-naked choke hold.

I guess it's not that unrealistic to see someone faint after getting his throat cut : D Or seeing her oldest son die. I think its possible she had heart attack too.

Cat seems shocked, as if she had lost her will to live. Meanwhile the Frey Wife could have struggled a bit, director must have decided that it would take too much attention away from Cat.

If its a good cut (deeper than shown here) that severes both carotid arteries it is indeed only a matter of a few seconds until consciousness is lost. Remember a human stands upright, so blood leaves the brain almost instantly and the moment the blood is gone consciousness is as well.

Can't believe the series will be over soon, not sure I can wait goodness knows how long for the next series. I really want to read the books but I'm enjoying watching the TV show and don't want that to be ruined. Dilemma ;_;

Mod Edit: Removed very minor spoiler

I don't understand how the story will continue at all. My theory was that Robb would die but I didn't think it would happen this early, more like at the end of the series. At the moment we have Daenarys and Stannis with the "possibility" to avenge the Starks and claim the throne but I don't feel like Daenarys will get to King's Landing in a while and Stannis is just kinda lame.
The story has to pull out some tricks to keep watchers entertained. Even though Martin keeps it unpredictable (and totally awesome) I doubt some will continue watching if there's no good guy left. Jon Snow. You can see a lot of Eddard Stark in him; he is truly the man's son. Now the question is how will they deal with him being disinherited from all titles and being in no position of power. Yes but as I see it: 1) Jon Snow won't claim the throne. He's not a "real" Stark and will not be able to do the "Robb thing" to avenge his family. 2) He's rather busy with the wildlings in the north 3) He's taken the black. He'll have a hard time convincing anyone to help him if they find out he's a deserteur (spelling?) from the Night's Watch. People will still cheer for Jon and Bran but tbh they do not make any threat to the bad guys (who the mainstream audiance wants to see dead). George R.R. Martin has been good with killing off important good characters. Now I think it's time to kill off a bad guy (Joeffrey, Tywin, Bolton or someone like that) but I guess he'll just kill Tyrion or something Tyrion is his favourite charcter he said it ... can't see him killing it! I agree with the part where he has to kill a "bad" guy though ... Lord Bolton would be the most "mainstream appealing" death since he's ben nothing but a scumbag so far (he basically admitted to Jaime's face that he was responsible for his lost hand, still sets him free to go to his family to gain their favors, betrays the Stark in the red wedding etc ..). Bolton must die. Another thing I've been speaking a lot with friends today, what's your take on Arya? Beside the womb stabbing moment, I felt like going back to showing Arya while the massacre is going on was also very sad. I felt so bad for her, after all she's been through she was finally about to get a little rest but BAMMMMM ... she got Martined. Only good point of that is that she now has 100% chance to go crazy. My take is that she'll probably find a way to reach Braavos (she has too many connections with the place not to go there) and train to become an assasssin or a dancing master or anything like that. She's like Batman, except she's Starkgirl ... but same story ...
there are not really good/bad buys in Westeros. Some are insane, some are ambitious, only gregor clegane and the bastard of bolton come close to being evil. If there are any bad guys its the white walkers.

how do we know they are bad (the white walkers) ? we barely saw them yet
|
Gregor in his first scene decapitated a horse that lost him a tournament, and has been known to shove his brother's head in a fireplace and kill people for snoring too loudly. Yeah I'd say he's pure evil.
|
I kinda knew Rob's fate before season 3 started. But didn't expect that at all. Also kinda confused how those 3 took the city.
|
Bastard of Bolton is torturing Theon for fun, he's gotten all he wants (sacrificing some of his men for it) and continues to torture him because he can.

I was talking about the white walkers btw

In that case, killing everyone and anyone, seems evil to me. Maybe it'll change but for now they're simply a force of evil.

I hope we learn more about their motivation (if they have any ^^)

Taking babies, apparantly. Feed on them while they are still young ^.^

Funny how both Robb and Jon seem to also share the trait of going against their vows for a woman. Did you watch last episode? Basically why did Robb die? I'd say it's a common trait to all Starks man :D
I don't think Rickon and Bran are in that position yet luckily
You could argue the same for Sansa too, she lied in S1E2 to gain favour with Joffrey.
And regarding fan favourites, Dany/Tyrion are still alive, Jaime is becoming more likable as time goes past, and 4 of the Starks are still alive. Not even mentioning Stannis/Davos. Still plenty of people to root for

The city used slave soldiers. The slaves threw their weapons to the ground, which makes sense if you think about it. If you where a slave, why in the world would you protect your master against someone who is coming to free you?

is anyone rooting for Stannis though?
