Im glad to see TLs reaction to the red wedding. Reading all the hateful tweets towards HBO and Martin made me really disappointed with the mainstream audience, which as always completely rejects the unexpected. The reason people love the books so much is mainly because they are not the always predictable crap everyone is used to. I think HBO deserve a lot of respect for producing this material into a TV show - its quite the rebelion against a century of predictable movie writing and shitty screenplays.

Aww snap, killing the wolf was pretty bm but everyone else deserved it. WP Lannisters.

Could tell that Nutter was involved with this ep, really well done episode.

And how glad I am that David Nutter, comming back after the second season to direct this episode(and the next), making it as good as it can be, after Michelle MacLaren, director of the 7th and 8th episodes, turned those 2 into the worst episodes of the entire series.

I actually predicted that the Freys would betray the Starks but not killing them like they did...
For fuck sake man, choosing the Starks as your favorite house at the beginning of the show was the worst mistake ever. I knew something was wrong with this fucking wedding but had hopes they would let them go and not kill them right fucking there.
I really hope all of the Lannisters (excluding probably Tyrion depending how he behaves with Sansa), Freys and stupid ass Boltons die in the most painful way possible.
I don't even have hopes for Jon or Arya at this point. I'm almost sure Martin wrote this fantasy believing that the Starks would be the punching bag...

Yes it was however nearly everyone on Robb's side was drunk

I understand he saved King's Landing but the North never forgets. He threw Bran out of the damn window man... he's still a Lannister and I'm almost quite sure even without his right hand, he's still Tywin's bitch.

HBO have been fairly good about stuff like this for a while. The finale to the first season of Tremé comes to mind for instance. Earlier shows like Oz, The Wire and Sopranos showed some of this kind of bravery as well, though not quite to the GoT level.

He also risked his life to save Brienne when he didn't need to. Yes he threw Bran out however he has a reason for that, Cersei and all his kids would have been killed if the truth was widespread

Lets not forget about Boardwalk Empire, which had really important and beloved characters die. That show is underrated as hell anyway.

The interview with Aleksa Palladino that I read about her character dying made me so sad. The death of characters is sometimes the hardest on their actors.
The actor for Robb Stark said after shooting his death scene he straight hopped into the next plane to get away and cried.

Have that from here:

tyrion and tywin are awesome, even tho tywin is awesome in a ruthless way jaime is just like the hound, while cercei is like catelyn only 100x more evil and 100x more mad. all in all, the lannisters arent a bad bunch, except for cercei and most joffrey

I'm so sad I got spoiled before this episode, but only in regard to Robb. Didn't see the rest coming. Jesus Christ, most dramatic/best episode I've ever seen on television.

Jaime is actually a weird and definitely the most curious character along with Tyrion in the series in my opinion but any Lannister besides Tyrion ever showed mercy towards anyone. Its pretty hard to judge anyone in this world but like I said, I'm a Stark fan so like Ned, honor is everything.

To be completely honest, mainstream audience is used to the good old "and they lived happy, blabbla" end so they don't even try to be critical about the show.
I hope HBO tho keeps inventing more and more in this show. I read the other day they had a 6 million "budget" per episode which in my opinion, for a series like GoT is quite low. The CGI lacks a lot for example. I'm just starting to read the books but I can already see the CGI kicking in. Especially with dragons and shit.

Freys never failed to collect toll of using their bridge and they kept it even though it was pretty bloody. It seems most houses fails to remember other houses tricks and traits.

I predicted something bad is going to happen at the wedding but I thought it's going to happen because of Melissandre's magic. Maybe Bolton's betrayal was a bit predictable but I did not expect Walder Frey to do something like this. I thought Catelyn is going to outlive everyone in the Stark family.

A lot of you uses the term "red wedding". Was it ever mentioned in the episode? I'm pretty sure it wasn't, just like "queen of thorns". I understand it was called like that in the books but that would mean more than half of people in this thread have read them.

I think it is just the shock of the moment. There are a couple of times in the books (Ned's death, the Red Wedding) where the reaction of the reader is shock, anger, frustration and disbelief. When people read the Red Wedding they have an emotional reaction to it. That is because it is a powerful scene. People get their minds blown and have to put the book down to digest what they have just read. Viewers of the show, also need to wrap their minds about the shocking events of this episode. It will take a little bit of time and people will vent and scream and wail but they will look back and realise that it is emotional because they care about the story and the characters. So any instant reactions are going to be one of shock and anger because that is a normal reaction to the Red Wedding.

One of the reasons the story is compelling is because people are in genuine danger. I think the mainstream audience will get over their shock and realise that they cannot be complacent with watching this story unfold. The story is not finished, it is only about half-way through and not even book-readers know how it ends. Frodo did not win at the end of the Fellowship of the Ring. Even the Lion King and Bambi suffered losses and they are Disney stories. The story will continue until the conclusion.

I think a lot of the book people just posted in this thread today because such a big "event" happened.
It was expected and it's not really a big deal, everything should go back to normal around here once everyone calms down.

Move along! ^^
