If you want to support HBO but there is no way to get it yet consider torrenting and buying the dvd box once it comes out. Don't know if the new digital channel of HBO in netherlands would air it. Most likely not.

When would you be able to see this on the interwebz? Thinking about staying up to see it if it's not too many hours away :D

Agree, grabbed season 1 for easter at amazon. But it just bugs me so much there is no other way since we got the FUCKING INTERNET and bandwidth should not be that much of a problem in 2012 to ensure access to watch world wide at roughly the same time - or at least same week for Christ´s sake... Ridiculous - then they wonder why so many people pirate things.
Nobody gives a rat´s ass after it got delayed for months. Sky for example showed it here like 3 months after it aired on HBO. I know that cuz my dad got it to watch sports - but I did not watch it there since I already knew it was friggin awesome.

If you got sky atlantic its on tommorow night if you can wait, its what I'm doing :D

If you want to watch American TV series, you have to pirate them. At least in most European countries.
As this is the case, I dont feel the slightest bit of guilt for "pirating" (aka watching it on the internet).

After I wrote my rather emotional post because the issue is a joke to be honest, I dug a little - and Sky Atlantic is coming on the 1st of May with HBO stuff including GoT to Sky in Germany. I guess it will be the same for Austria - or at least one can hope. It´s quite a bit faster than last time however, maybe they start catching up at least a bit...
Well as for guilt pirating stuff which is not available legally - definitely not the case. But it´s just silly and they are depriving themselves from making a good share of money by following these outdated release procedures. Usually people are willing to pay for quality stuff.
On a different note - HYPE! :D

The situation in Germany is more dire. The program moved from TNT to Sky (which starts in Germany in May), a different pay-tv package.
Legal options: (1) sign up for an additional, costly Pay-TV service and wait until May (2) wait for the dvd / blue ray (3) wait one year
Of course they market everything locally.
Well, television has always been a mess.
edit: I don't think, that that is outdated, it's just business. And people do not pay much. The viewer-ship for original material is minor, anyway.

Watched all the trailers, teasers, character featurettes, making of's etc. I am ready!
Prior to Season 1 I had no idea what to expect. Now I am sitting here with GREAT expectations.
Bring it on!

Crap I never really wanted to be American until now.

90 minutes to go!
Can't wait to see the new characters, like the book they will make the show more exciting !!

It's not just non-Americans that are fucked. In order to watch this show in HD, I have to have the following: 1 - A basic cable subscription 2 - The premier channel tiers 3 - An HD subscription 4 - An HD converter box
I did the math on it when season 1 aired and I'd be paying about $100 per month to my telco just for this show (since I don't have cable TV). I desperately want to give someone money for this show, but the only way they'll do it is if I pay a ton of money to a third party. I'd happily pay $10 per episode for this show to watch it when it airs. That is far more than they would get out of me otherwise, but they refuse to do it.
I won't do this, though. I don't watch TV at all. Well, except for this show. And they didn't stop me.
I did buy the Blu-Ray of season 1 the instant it came out, for what it's worth.

On a different note - HYPE! :D Problem is that it cost more money to buy tv rights early on when show is going on. After 1-2 years its super cheap to buy. Before internet time it didn't really matter that much because you couldn't get information from USA about tv shows anyways but nowdays you can get it so easily (you didn't really know how old that tv series was). Other thing is tv ratings. Well accepted tv shows do get picked up earlier and cancelled shows rarely ever.
Lets give nice example... Battlestar Galactige series just ended week ago (about 2-3 years later than USA did) but Lost came out 3-4 days later for last seasons. I didn't even bother download that point anymore as fansubbers took like same time to make quality Finnish subtitles.

That map is awesome. I haven't seen one detailed that way before.
I hate that there's no way to watch this live without HBO. D:

I didn't even bother download that point anymore as fansubbers took like same time to make quality Finnish subtitles. I am not quite sure you fully understood the point. Sky is in many European countries the counterpart to HBO, or even affiliated with it since they have to buy licenses from them to view their popular and brilliant shows. We are not talking free tv, but pay tv here. I am quite aware I won´t get it as early as someone who pays for this premium service. The point is it´s not available within a reasonable amount of time, especially in the year 2012 and a superb medium like the internet - even for paying European customers who get Sky(or any other premium service) - we are getting left behind. Only way to make up for that is to get it on the internet - problem here is that HBO won´t be happy and I will be a pirate/will only be able to help them to keep the show going when they release the DVD(if I don´t get Sky with this Sky Atlantic channel you have to pay additional to the standard Sky Fee - which will be available in early May, when HBO already aired a lot of episodes). At this point it may even be too late to support the show because there is the possibility that it gets cancelled if ratings are too low. Thankfully it won´t happen since now it´s damn popular, but when they made season 1 it was far from certain they would be able to continue and attract enough people for additional seasons.
