can't wait, but I hope I have the willpower to wait until the end of the season to start watching, waiting a week between epi's (like im doing with spartacus) is incredibly difficult

I recently watched the first season for the third time (I think) and there were still so many things that I missed before. I bet if I watched it again I would still be surprised about some things.

The books are written so well and the show does them justice. It's rare to find something which has great production value and sticks to the essence of the books. The characters and plot twists are THE defining characteristic of George R. R. Martin's style so definitely watch the series again if you don't power read through the first book before S2.

". Then I realized that once the season begins I'll have to endure terrible waiting periods every week, and then, twelve weeks from now, I'll have to wait another year... Watching a series as it goes and not discover it after it has already concluded sucks so hard!

After each episode I spend next few days on 3 different forums talking to many people about that episode, previous ones and future ones (with spoiler or no depending what forum I am on and what topic). It works great to quell the need to watch new episodes right away that you don't have available for another week.
