I think the prologue sequence would be crucial for season 2. spoilers about the prologue spoilered + Show Spoiler + First of all it introduces a lot of new characters that become very important. Secondly, it introduces the idea of magic and makes it clear that this red priestess actually possess some kind of supernatural power. The final scene with mellisandre and the maestar is just awesome. | ||

They could just kinda show up and the portion of the audience that hasn't read the books gets to see some cool shit in a new place with characters they aren't familiar with. | ||
