I understand why people get pissy about the books because it sounds pretentious, but filling in lore surely aint that bad as long as its kept TOTALLY to book 1 now. The book and the TV finishes at the same time, and using the books to fill in lore seems fine, however the rules are rules etc etc.
She didn't know it would work, she knew she couldn't be burnt by fire but she didn't know the dragons was hatch, I think it was more desperation than anything else...she had nothing left to lose may aswell try it, and eventually it was 3 lives for 3 lives, the magei told her a life for a life so give it a shot...why the hell not!!!!!
I honestly loved this episode and think the ending was pretty much perfect. A great way to end. I think people who have read the books appreciate the little things that the series adds. The series allows for more characters to get screen time, and the shit with Pycelle showed something I had no clue about in book 1 :D Nice work HBO, Scrap the other shit (true blood etc) and just film and show GOT 24/7 :D:D:D:D:D:D

Her brother on the other hand got burn to death by the melted gold crown, it begs the question that man doesn't have blood of the dragons. That begs the question where did he came from and how did she came to known him as her brother.

shes not immune to fire targaryn's refering to themselves as dragons is just an expression. it is nothing literal. they are simple humans like everyone else her resistance to fire was caused by lingering blood magic and a connection with the eggs the people that used to hatch dragon eggs never experimented, they knew intuitivly. this is what dany did. she had a feeling and went for it. it's pretty obvious she was performing blood magic with drogo's funeral. saying she wanted the witches life. either the witch paid for all 3 dragons or it factored in drogo + her son in the price. her resistance to fire is probably gone, i wouldn't be suprised if in season 2 they have a simple scene with her getting burnt by something to express this.
yes some of this wasn't conveyed properly in the show. it's fair enough. they had alot to get through. but thats how it is iirc i dont know why people waste time debating something that is already set in stone :<

Mod edit: Poster is an idiot who fully quotes offensive posts, thus making my life harder.
It was nothing personal, but the rest of the people that has gotten warned for the stuff has done the exact same thing. "Just filling in blanks". At some point it stops being "filling in blanks" and starts being "annoying as hell". People have shown again and again that they can't handle being left to decide themselves what is minor spoilers and what is just filling in the blanks, so please, just don't do it.
It also leaves me paranoid about reading this thread, because you never quite know when someone is just discussing stuff and when they are spoiling stuff with book knowledge. Seeing the amount of aggressive moderating the thread has required I'd say it's justified. Just don't fill in blanks, some people might be ok with it, but the rest of the people that really don't want to know aren't, so it still ends up having the same effect as a direct spoiler.
Edit: Thanks mod. Blond moment there with the quoting.

omgfuckyeadragonzomg Spring 2012 >:< argh I hope I won't cower in the corner for a year, only to realise that the dragons are not full-grown, firespitting, trogdor impersonating peasent-BURNINATORS in season 2. But with the war still going strong and no peace in sight, as the lannister scene suggested, they probably won't mature in season 2 I'd like me some burninating trogdor clones :O

the main storyline had 0 resolution. we're just as lost as to who will 'win the game of thrones' and how the families of the realm will settle this war as we were 4 episodes ago.
the other main theme of the targaryans using the dothraki to recapture the throne was a bust, the doth'raki left and the khal drogo is dead. What was the point of developing them so much?
also the wall... the first episode showed some tid bits about the wall and then there was nothing but a random reanimated corpse and the final episode FINALLY gets back to the wall but again, there is nothing but the same line we've heard over an entire season 'winter is coming', when? the 2nd book? the 2nd season? Season 4?
Ughh, just so let down right now. I was really hoping for some stark/lanister resolution. Whatever maybe I'll like it more after I take a step back and think about it more. I think you're naive if you expected full resolution of the plot within the end of the first season. The whole thing itself is atm 5 books and is expected to be 7. We don't need full resolution. I understand there are more books..I just feel more was needed than what was giving. You aren't alone. The only people defending that ending are fan boys. Simply not true, I haven't read the books and thought the ending was fine, if there was some kind of Lannister/Stark resolution + Dothraki invasion in the final episode I think it would've been way too much and taken away from the steady pace they've set on the storyline. Anyway, I did have a quick question, probably wasn't paying as much attention as I should've, what exactly was Jon Snow's motivation to go serve at the wall?
Jon had a much different vision of what the Night's Watch was going to be like. He thought it was more like a noble order of knights and heroes where him being a bastard wouldn't matter. He thought Nights Watch would be filled with members like his uncle who were former nobles who came voluntarily. He comments about this when Gren and Pyp and Rast hold him at knife point after he breaks Gren's nose training and Tyrion saves him, about how no one told him what is really like up here except for Tyrion. As for celibacy, he told Sam that he would never have sex unwed because he didn't want another kid to have to grow up as a bastard like he did.
I recommend reading the first book or getting the audio book, it will give more depth to the character's backgrounds and motivations that can't be posted in this thread.

Would've thought that would be pretty obvious, what show from HBO hasn't done the next season at the same time as the first? Don't see why GoT would be any different.
