If you really want to separate the book from the show, then the answer would either be something obtainable from the show or it is indeed a dead end plot. Stating "the answer is in the books" and sending him away is not good enough. These kind of threads on TL are always a bit problematic between seasons. There is just not that much to discuss about. I tried to answer him his question via PM, not sure if its correct but it worked at least in my mind . And on a side note i think the "Xaro Xhoan Daxos" arc is one of the, maybe the, weakest storyline of the whole franchise anyway.

Have I ever told you how awesome your name is?

Not because it deviated from the book and certainly not because it is bad. But how are the unsullied supposed to have the slightest clue what's going on? I honestly don't think I could follow the show in a TV format, one EP per week.

I'm convinced the way god intended you to watch this show is over and over again until you catch every little detail, and then a few times more.

Its more that i have a bit of a problem with the Daenerys in the 3rd season in terms of "well its cool and all but if i am thinking about it why exacly is she doing that...".

Also, can anyone suggest a book or series that is very similar to A Game of Thrones in plot, political intrigue, scope, etc.?

We all know that season 4 is apparently the last half of book 3, but are they doing the same thing with season 5 and the first half of book 4? Or reverting back to 1 season per book? Also, can anyone suggest a book or series that is very similar to A Game of Thrones in plot, political intrigue, scope, etc.? Theyre combining books after this season for the next seasons

AFAIK, the next few books aren't ordered by chronology, but the series are going to follow the timeline instead, so the fifth season will start the blending of the rest of the books. The most similar series I've read (disclaimer, I haven't read longer than the show has come) is the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. It is less gritty and more archetypically fantasy, but the scope is insane. There's something like 3000 named characters in those books. ![]()
