Totally not what I was expecting (I suspected they might do something like John Wick the TV show but with Punisher instead of John), but what I got was amazing. This is a really well made crime/drama/psychological thriller. The characters were really fleshed out and interesting, the dynamic of their interactions was top notch and pretty much all the roles were played very well (with Bernthal taking the cake of course). The directing and editing were superb - I was really astonished at how well they used clever juxtaposition in some scenes. It definitely wowed me. The action scenes were really well made and very brutal for the most part. I also liked how they captured the essence of the Punisher. I mean, he's the guy you're rooting for and your protagonist, all is well, cool and dandy and it's easy in some of the slower parts of the show, but then you get to the action and confrontation... Then you discover that Frank is really an unhinged psychopath and a real monster. He's annihilating (not an exaggeration) any opposition without any pity or remorse. It is always violent, brutal and gruesome, quite often disgusting. This is really what makes The Punisher such an interesting character. The polarity of righteous, generally good guy towards others and this bestial monster towards anyone he considers to be a bad guy or a threat to innocents. I also really enjoyed how they delved in PTSD and gun control. It wasn't opinionated, it explored the topics really well and fit the theme of the show. Props from me. All in all, we got more Frank Castle and less Punisher, but it was done really well. I can definitely recommend this show to pretty much anyone (not just comic book fans).

This might be the most violent show I've ever seen. I usually don't care at all about on-screen violence, but this show actually had me cringing at parts and thinking "Did they need to show that?" So much red-syrup. It serves its purpose, though. The issues of PTSD, military culture, and Stolen Valor are handled pretty well.

liked it more than defenders, which were plagued by laughable ninja zombies
