I think it will end somehow like this: (just thoughts without evidence, would be interested what you think about it)
-Rikudo split the 10 tails in 3 parts (body to the moon, the "good " part of the 10 tails became the 9 bijuu, the "evil" part became the Sharingan) [We know the 10 tails was kinda evil and that the young bijuus were nice "children", so the evil part of the 10 tails has to be somewhere]
-He "sealed" the evil part into one son
-He choose his second son to prevent the sharingan from reactivating the 10 tails
-The Sharingan became something like the curse of the ninja world
-The battle between the two sons is fought over many generations (e.g. 1. hokage vs. Madara)
-Madara is the strongest descendant of the evil son, he won against the 1. hokage but was nearly dead as well and awakened the Rinnengan (The Rinnengan is somehow the first step of the resurection of the 10 tails)
-Before his death, Madara created a personification of the evil spirit of the sharingan
-Before Obito died, this personification took over his body... and gave himself the name tobi (i was never a fan of tobi=obito, but the last chapter points in that direction)
-Obito was choosen because the power of the sharingan grows with the hate of the host, obito hated the war
-Naruto on the other side is the strongest descendant of the good son and is suppossed to become the new rikudo (he became the new friend of the bijus allready)
-Sasuke is supposed to become even an even stronger host for the sharingan, but in the end he will overcome the hate and end the curse, while Naruto crushes the body of the new 10 tails
I know there is no evidence for this and i am sure you will finde flaws in this "theory", but like i stated in the beginning: i dont think we will get good resolution.
You shouldnt see this as a whole theory, it is just a summary of how i think the direction of the story end looks like

why do you assume the 10 tails was evil?
hes a creature on a completely different level from humans, its like ants calling a 5 year old boy evil when he steps on there ant mound
and the sharingan is not the evil of 10 tails, its just the watered down version of his rinnegan

i think it was said that the uzamakis or nagato specifically can trace there lineage to Hashirama so if tobi found Nagato, killed the ninja nearby and transplanted in 2 sharingan its possible that mixing the Uchiha blood (sharingan) with Senju blood from Nagato would create the Rinnegan

Why do people think that nagato's rinnegan had something to do with having his eyes transplanted. We have been shown mulitple times in flashbacks of when he first awakened it kilng the ninja who killed his parents, then fully awakening it saving yahiko. Tobi is well known to speak alot of truth while also speaking vast quantites of bullshit about import history.

Tobi is known to speak half-truths, but Madara implied the rinnengan is the final form of the sharingan, and it requires both Uchiha and Senjuu DNA. Nagato has the Senjuu part, being an Uzumaki, but he couldn't have awakened the rinnengan without the Uchiha part. And I don't think one can awaken the rinnengan directly, without having the sharingan.
Also, when Madara is resurrected he initially believes it's Nagato's doing, which confirms the theory that the plan was for Tobi to take Madara's eyes after his death and transplant them to Nagato, so he can revive Madara when he masters his eyes. That's why Tobi was so angry when Nagato used his technique to revive the Konoha casualties.

If Sasuke ever wants to revive the Uchiha clan, Karin would be a pretty good candidate(except the whole...trying to kill her incident). Their kids would be supersaiyans, Uchiha+Senjuu blood. Only Tsunade would be better, but I doubt she's interested.

I am not sure if you guys notice, but I had won this thread some 50 pages ago when I told you guys how Nagato have the rinnegan, since it required both bloodlines, it's obvious that while Nagato's parents were still alive, Tobi came along tsukuyomi the shit out of his mom, and then rape the shit out of her. Bam Uchiha DNA mixed with Senji DNA, this is the most logical of them all, cause if you go by transplanting eyes then you will have to explain how come those eyes grows bigger in size with the little boy that was Nagato and which 8 years old Uchiha (that also activated the eyes at that young age) did Tobi stoke those eyes from.

unless the eyes are one size fits all or you can use medical ninjutsu to shrink the eye slightly
and Itachi kinda murdered his entire clan, women and children included there are tons of tiny eyes lying around

It only confirms that madara knew about Nagato not that he had any part in how he got his rinnegan. Also considering what has been said by both Nagato and Konan i highly doubt that Nagato was about to just give his eyes to someone once hes mastered them as he has alread shown he mastered them.
