I also just read chapter 559, and there are some additional secrets in there:
The first thing Madara says after being resurrected is, "It would appear that little brat Nagato managed to grow", but then he's surprised to find out that he's only alive because of the Impure World Resurrection. From this we can surmise a few things:
- Madara was alive after Nagato was born, which was 30+ years after Madara was supposed to have died. Either that, or he knew that Nagato would come to exist before he did. Or there is another Nagato.
- Madara expected Nagato to be the one to revive him, probably the Rinnegan.
When Nagato used the Rinnegan to revive the people of Konoha, Tobi said, "Nagato was supposed to save that for me!" Who is "me" exactly? Maybe Tobi really is Madara, just in a separate body?

Maybe when he said "Nagato was supposed to save that for me!" he wasn't referring specifically to himself but to his plan that he concocted with Madara to revive him as part of his "long term plan" where he let himself be defeated by the 1st so he could gain his power.

The lack of an Edo Tensei Orochimaru should have given that away given that Kabuto was the one performing it. Kabuto is pretty obsessed with Orochimaru, and he totally would have tried to Edo Tensei him if Orochimaru was truly dead.
What I am wondering is what is with Sasuke's reaction to the news of Madara still being around? Seriously, how could Sasuke not see that ocming?

well not really....if itachi sealed him within the gourd with the sword you can't edo him, technically he's not dead cause his soul is sealed. he reminds me more of voldemore, allows different pieces of his soul to be placed upon differnet objects in order to survive in someway.

I meant that the sword should have sealed his very soul away etc forever. And yeah, the guy is seriously like lord voldemort...always thought that. Maybe he was based on him or something.
And regarding Sasuke's reaction, it's not his fault, for whatever reason kishimoto drew/wrote it that way.

This episode has a couple plot holes in it. First of all, why wouldn't itachi know the identity of orochimaru/tobi. Secondly why did Oro never use his time/space jutsu and I thought that they portrayed him doing crap in the original tobi episodes where tobi is a dork.
