yeah... I read the manga too. But I also like mentioning the anime because it's very well done. And the recent episodes are very exciting even for a manga reader.

Why can't they just shoot exploding harpoons are the back of a titan's neck. They seem to have no problems harpooning that area with their gear.

Ubel Blatt is sort of like this. Fullmetal Alchemist is always recommended if you haven't read it. Beyond that, you would have to be more specific about what you mean by similar.

thanks for the suggestions.i am looking for manga with more mature content like attack on titan.you know family drama, drama in general, suffering, gore, sex and maybe even combine all of this with some big scary monsters aka titans. .Do not like the 200% action scenes manga like naruto, bleach etc.

You're not missing anything.
It is clear that the first picture the second set of arms is Ymir's hugging Reiner's chest.
Bertholdt's left arm is on his forehead whilst his right arm is against the wall.
Hyperbola is obviously wrong.

Hi ! I've just read the manga after reading so much good things about it, and I don't wanna sound mean, but why is it so popular ?
I've found the whole story narration pretty bad, and except the pitch and design of giants, I don't really feel anything is well done in it. This might sound like a flamebait but I'm really curious, I've read hundreds of mangas and I simply don't understand why this one is popular.

The whole story is really well made, and it seems clear the author knows where he's going from the start. The dual pace of the story - action-wise, it's going at a quick pace, it's hard to just be bored, while a bunch of the answers are cleverly hidden if you read well enough between the lines. Even for the lazy readers, you don't have to wait that much.
Why is this popular? Hmm, I don't really know. For an audience used to read mangas, it cames out at a time where most of the other popular seinen mangas sucked balls quite hard. I can't count Claymore as a decent one compared to Shingeki for example. Maybe the fact the story is really deep while easy to understand. I dunno why but it happens too often in the japanese medias, that a deep story has to be incomprehensible.
When I first read that thing 2 years ago, I was quite surprised about how well it was received in Japan (Shingeki won a prize for its first year iirc), not because of the quality of the manga - i found it that good already -, but because it felt more like an underground gem or something.
But it's clearly not an error or a luck-based timing that Shingeki became a popular title.

The licence-based t-shirts at Uniqlo didn't sold during the 6 months I was there, even when they were at 500Y at the end. It's got some acclaim but it's not really popular compared to many other mangas there.
And I don't know about the story. The pitch is nice but the narration is really bad I think. It doesn't feel right, tempo-wise. Everything seems so out of place.
I don't know, I really want to see what the writer has in mind for the progression of the story, but I don't see it becoming a classic Shounen like FMA or Jojo.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, he's right, that's quite a legend.

For a monthly seinen, it's really hard to be recognized if you aren't a well-known author to begin with, for the first year(s). FMA is a good example to compare with. It started slow too, but with a good story and an awesome anime, sales went through the roof too.
Everything after that is just about your tastes. I like FMA, but I don't find it classic shounen worthy. Probably due to the end, but still!

Discussion pertaining to this particular manga is small enough that it shouldn't be a problem to simply ignore people discussing the anime. How about we instead simply spoiler tag manga discussion, just for the sake of our anime watching friends. I mean, its not like its hard to spoiler tag stuff and it saves other people a lot of pain.

But this is the manga thread... everyone here has read the manga and is completely up to date on the story, we should spoiler our discussion for 1 or 2 people when this is the manga thread. That's like telling people in the game of thrones book thread to spoiler their discussion for people who are watching the show, that doesn't make any sense at all. ^^
Just get up to date on the manga first, that's what I did for One piece, even if I watch the anime before reading the manga if I can.

Feel free to bash me, but having read the manga. I just can't shake this off. Why on earth haven't they been to the basement yet. One would think that would surely be the #1 priority. Maybe i dont fully grasp the scale of the world and it actually takes a year to ride down there. I dont know.

after annie attacked them during their first trip things just snowballed into the current situation, their #1 priority after that attack was to find the spy(annie).

it would have been pointless, he doesn't value his life enough to threaten him and they don't have any leverage against him.
