Too bad we're back in the "Every girl wants to be a (prom) princess" mindset again. One of the things that makes MLP good is that it rejects the shallow dresses and high school mindset of shows like bratz in favor of a diverse cast that behave, act and think differently. If this goes where most think it is, it spits not only on that idea, but on the characters themselves. I'm just happy this isn't canon.

I don't know where you guys are coming up with this stuff. How can you assume its going to be a shallow movie about being pretty or popular? Just because they show twilight in a dress, you assume that the movie will be shallow?

I mean really it sounds like you guys are making this stuff up out of thin air off of very little information. You have no idea what this movie is going to be like or what values it will promote. At the end it still alludes to the magic of friendship, so if anything I would assume it would try to promote the same values as *the entire show has tried to promote for three seasons*, and not suddenly turn into a high-school movie where beauty and popularity are the main drive.

Because they're forcing characters into a highschool setting(where they pretty clearly don't belong), talking about being the prom princess to beat a bully, and strongly implying love interests. It can prove us wrong if it likes, but all signs point to awful tween drama.

Ooh boy. The trailer and this description hurt so badly. As long as its not canonical and doesn't interfere with production of FiM and any potential FiM based movies, I'll give it a shot. But I'll be really upset if this pulls most of the attention/funding from the show I love.

I admit that I'm a bit nervous about Equestria Girls because of the setting, and how that boy in the trailer seems like he is being set up as a love interest. However, maybe they'll subvert the standard story tropes. It would be great if they had a story that showed mane 6 didn't need the things that are traditionally portrayed as important for teenage girls. For example, if they didn't care about popularity, focusing on having a few good friends instead of many superficial friends.

Meh, I noticed how rarely I get riled up about something in advance anymore. I'll just watch EQG and judge it after that.

Since it won't be in cinemas here though, it'll be tough avoiding all the rage/hype until it's released on DVD or another accessible medium.
