It has nothing to do with dismissing a visitor, because dismissal would be "go away", not "the information you seek is readily available if you care enough to go looking for it by reading the first post." In other words, if you're on TL.net and you don't read the OP, expect to be called on it. =)

But let me ask you something. In the gay SC players thread, you said you go out of your way to answer questions. How many of them are along the lines of "Why are you gay? I don't understand it at all. What do you see in being gay?" Because unless you're happy to put up with leading questions that puts the onus on the questioned to defend themselves, and you never get tired of them after 470 pages, it doesn't equate. What you did was basically start off with an argument from personal incredulity, i.e. "I can't understand that people would legitimately like this", and then you put the burden on us to respond specifically to you to show you that we actually do. Do you understand why people might find that annoying?

Lastly, the phrase "I think some of you could learn a thing or two from the ponies" is an insulting passive-aggressive jab taken whilst sitting atop a high horse, and it doesn't impress me in the slightest.

Also, I should mention that I may be the 40tth person to ask questions in this thread, but each of those 40 people are unique individuals. If being an outsider to the majority has taught me anything in life, it's that patience and making the slightest effort to explain things to an individual who is politely asking questions goes a heck of a lot further towards mutual understanding than being rude and insinuating "you're not worth the effort" because so-and-so already asked 2 months ago. Human beings are not perfect, and neither are all vistiors going to be - don't expect everyone to catch every detail in the original post and not have follow-up questions. You posted a helpful link, but I doubt that it was necessary to vent your frustration on a respectful visitor.

LittleJoeRambler: You took the time to write that synopsis of your interest in this genre and I thank you very much for it. That was incredibly enlightening and I can relate to the aspects regarding mythology and Tolkein. You inspired me and I'm going to attempt to watch the show while stoned to see if I can get anything more from it (and hopefully get past the areas where my attention wavers). Thanks again!
