Hi guys. My wife really likes korean dramas, but most of them that she watches I don't like that much.

The ones she watched that I actually liked were Boys Over Flowers(it was ok), and Dream High (I loved this one!). So I tried to watch Dream High 2 and 2 episodes in I was like "this has no plot" and stopped watching it.

Are there any you could recommend us to watch? It doesn't have to involve singing/dancing but that's always fun of course.

It seems like you can enjoy those Romantic Comedy type dramas. Do you mind older shows (2-3 years ago) or recent ones?

And we have never heard of the reply series. We will check out all these recommendations

Reply series is good, but not for everyone. There's no real plot, it's like a slice of life.
Definitely try Oh My Ghostess

For something more intense...Signal. I think Signal is as good as American shows in terms of writing and direction.

If you want rom-com then I recommend Producer, My secret hotel, Oh my ghost, High school love on, You Who Came from the star and Master's Sun.
I didnt like Reply series that much b/c its not enough drama-like and too "thats life" but whatever floats your boat. It was a good series that was very well received. Just a matter of preference.

Could someone please describe what kind of drama is Descendants of the Sun ? Synopsis is vague af. I hate military theme dramas but i like the cast. What other drama would you compare it to. No major spoilers please. Dunno if i should give it a go.

Military is basically just there as background, as the core of the drama lies in character developement within their respective lovelines and other interpersonal relationships.
Plus Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-kyo.
Plus visuals.
Plus corny one liners.
I'd definitely recommend it although honestly the reasons behind its immense popularity are a mistery to me.

Not sure, I think its the possibly due to the fact its the first KDrama (atleast in recent times) to be pre-produced, meaning the cast has been free to promote along with the airing of the Drama.

Funny you mentioned those names, b/c they are the ones that i care the least about. I think i will check it out tho.

What about Cheese in the trap ? I thought it will be light uni drama. Ive seen first half hour of the first ep and it was some serious shit about creepy stalker/borderline sociopath guy. I like my sociopaths to be pretty not creepy. Does this change later on or thats the main theme? As usually wiki classify this as "Melodrama, romance, comedy" which tells me exatcly nothing.

I dont remember the title but i saw a drama when some scene took place in a bar and there was some jazzy music in the background with polish lyrics singed by a female (who judging from the pronunciation was polish). I dont know who it was but it kinda freaked me out. I have no idea how they find this piece b/c it definitely wasnt some mainstream polish pop.

It's pretty mediocre IMO. 6/10 at best, and that's with a +1 from song joongki being a cutie. Stellar first episode and straight downhill after that -- I only got to like 12/16 episodes before I dropped it.

It feels like the writer(s) had a few cute ideas for romance scenes but had no idea how to string them together such that they made a coherent, plausible story. Drama is filled with incredible coincidence, characters are so unrealistically stubborn about everything so the "conflicts" just seem like everyone being a baby. It's true that a lot of these complaints can be said of most kdramas. But for a drama as critically acclaimed as DOTS, it's incredible how "meh" it is. Some very cute moments and interesting moral commentary are dragged down by how contrived the overarching story is.

Lastly, the "love song" comes in WAY TOO EARLY every time something romantic happens. Pisses me off just thinking about it....

Come Back Ahjussi (aka Please Come Back Mister) is quite good IMO. One of the few "little girl" characters I don't want to murder, great acting by everyone, good comedy scenes, though the story is a little slow ~ep 10. Getting unnecessarily close to makjang near the end, but still solid overall.
